Chapter 18

Max's POV

My eyes open to bright sunlight. I squint at an approaching figure trying to make out who it is. I feel so weak I can't even lift my head up to see who it is. 

"Hey, don't move. Your to weak to be able to do anything for a while, sorry but your bed ridden." It's Will. 

"Wha-" I try to ask a question but I'm not sure which one to ask first, what happened? Wheres the flock? Is everyone okay? etc..

"hush don't speak yet either. I'm gonna run some test I want you to shake your head yes or no when I ask question, okay?"

"O-"

"Shake yes or no." He reminds me when I try to answer. I nod. "Good let's continue then." He uses a pen light and shines in my eyes and does the whole work up and i do as he says, I'm too tired to argue. "Okay, well you seem to be doing better then normal mortals would, but you still have a long way to recover." i nod in agreement. "okay, I'm gonna go get some people and you can ask them any questions, I would help but I don't anything about what went down. They wanted to talk to you before I give you a dignosis, wait here." He gives me a lollipop from a jar and leaves. I stare at the lollipop before eating it, was this guy a doctor so young? Also, what diagnosis? I sit there trying to remember what happend but all I recall is pain.  

"Hey, Max" Percy and Annabeth come in. The smile grimly at me, why, though I don't know. I'm worried about what happened. Do I have amnesia or something? There's a large gap in my memory.

"H-Hey" My voice is shaky and I cough trying to clear my throat. "What happened? Why am I here? I don't remember..." My voice trails of as I concentrate hard on remembering. 

"Will said you might have some slight amnesia, he said your memory will come back after a while." I nod, it makes sense but what had happened?

"So, what happened?" Percy looks down grimly.

"What's the last thing you remember?" Annabeth asks.

I think back," Percy went to the hospital because his mom was giving birth, so I went around camp and checked on the flock. Then when i couldn't find Angel or Fade, I went to the Hades cabin, and there was like a short Fang guy who was talking through a rainbow, a-and he told me he might be at that large tree, uh thrisha's tree or something." 

"Thalia's tree." Percy corrects me smirking. 

"Ya that, and then I went there and there was a net and I think I blacked out." I pause not recalling what came next. But then there was a smell I could never forget that came to my mind. "The School! I was at the School, wh-what happened?!" There faces get grim once more. 

Percy's POV

  "The School! I was at the School, wh-what happened?!" Her face become frantic. I don't know what to say, how are you supposed to tell an avian girl that she lost her wings? Or that her little sister of sorts, was tortured to the point of losing her mind abilities, or that her boyfriend was still missing? Me and Annabeth share a completely defeated look between us as Max's face grows even more worried. 

"We were at the hospital when we found out you, Angel, and Fang had been kidnapped by the school once again. we made our way there and found you and Angel. You guys...had been tested on again." Max was almost in tears.

"What about Fang?"  She says and her voice cracks.

"I'm getting there," I say solemnly. " We had Nico shadow travel you guys here, and we went to go fight and look for Fang. But the scientist got out of are grasp and well ran away into some helicopter on the roof. We searched the whole building for Fang, but... he wasn't there." I look up and see silent tears streaming down her face. then I see something else she is reaching her hand slowly to her back where her wings once were. She feels the bandage and the stumps and lets out a sob. I don't know what to do. 

"My wings are gone? Fade is gone. Is Angel okay?" She looks to me. 

"Angel is doing really good." I say not wanting to tell her about Angels lack of mind reading yet, afraid it will break Max.

"Don't worry Max we will get Fang back." Annabeth reassures her. All Max does is nod.

Time skip....

We leave Max to rest and go eat at the pavilion.

"Did she wake?" Gazzy comes up to us with Iggy right behind him. 

"Ya, she'll be okay. You should wait to see her though she needs rest." Annabeth answers. We stop by the Hermes cabin where Angel is. She woke up hours ago and was surprisingly really well. She had no lasting damage part from the head stuff and she seems happier them usual, she told Will it was because it was 'kinda of nice having a silent mind'. I don't really get what she means but she seems good enough, only worried about Fang and Max.

"Hey Angel" I step in to find Angel sitting on a bed playing with Connor and Travis. 

"Hey, Percy and Annabeth.Is she all right?" She comes up to me asking about Max. 

"Ya, she is kiddo, as good as she could be." I smile at her.
