Chapter 23: Friends

"Good morning Gorgeous", he whispered pressing a short kiss on my lips and I smiled "and she smiles, that's new"

"You've seen me smile before", I replied looking up at him and he smiled- he looks better when he smiles "good morning your kingliness"

"Hmm, I actually like that name", he said as if he were thinking "can you keep calling me that?"

"Nope, you have to earn that", I chuckled and he sighed "come on, we have things to do"

"We?", he asked as I got up and I nodded

"We're a team, we're mates", I stated and he smiled

"I love the sound of that", he sighed dreamily and I chuckled. We've gotten used to sharing the same bed, I liked being cuddled up to his warm body. Since we've accepted the crown and moved into the castle, there had been some changes.

The passageways, all except for the one that leads to safety, has been sealed off. The guards have been trained by our pack's best fighters, and Hayden planned a meeting with as many Alphas as possible. He wasn't going to make the same mistakes Xander made. As for living in the castle, the pack loves it! Luca made friends, the children have reading time in the huge library, and Nate gets to be closer to his family. Cathy and Johnathan are absolutely in love.

I showered first, Hayden went in after me and his towel accidentally fell to the floor. My eyes widened seeing his lower half then quickly closed

"Ugh! Seriously?!", I growled walking away and he laughed "you play too much!"

"I'm sorry", he laughed pulling me back then tugged off my towel "see? Now we're even....". I glared up at him as he gave me a smug look in return

"I'm going to get dressed", I mumbled trying to get away, but he held me closer- ugh! Too hot! "Hayden, let go"

"No, you feel too good", he pouted and tucked his face in my neck "you smell good"

"That what showers do", I replied trying not to touch him "you'd smell good too if you go take one"

"Ouch, so mean Ariel", he whispered, his hands sliding down my sides and cupping my bum in his hands "take a shower with me"

"No! I just got out of one", I groaned placing my hands on his chest to push him away- no such luck "go Hayden, we have a meeting to go to". He kissed my neck a few times, his hands sliding up to my front and grope one of my breasts- oh no no no! I grabbed his wrist and pushed away, this time more successfully

"Take a shower Hayden", I told walking backwards into the closet and he hesitated "shower!"

"Ugh!!", he groaned going into the bathroom and I sighed in relief.

Hayden's POV

Ares was getting more impatient by the day. It's already bad enough that Ariel and I sleep in same room, but when she has nothing to do she walks around in just a shirt and underwear! The shower in our room was probably the worse thing ever to be created, sometimes I'm so tempted to see Ariel..... Okay, hold up, I need to relax. I am King, I need to focus on the problem at hand. I have to focus about this meeting in a few minutes.

"All your guests are accounted for, your majesty", I heard Sebastian say as I changed into my suit in the closet "I will escort them to the conference room when you are ready"

"Thank you Sebastian", Ariel replied politely and authoritatively "please tell Caroline to prepare coffee for us"

"Yes your majesty", he said then left the room. A few minutes later, I exit the closet and my eyes landed on Ariel's amazing figure. She wore a red button down tucked neatly into her black pencil skirt, black heels, and her hair that's usually straight, was in curls hoing past her shoulders. She looked beautiful and it brought a smile to my face to know she was all mine
