17 years later.... Ariel's POV
"Keep that heel to the ground sweetheart, that's why you keep on falling", Hayden called to our daughter, Lilith, after she fell on her butt once again
"And Josh, keep your arms up when defending yourself", he added to out son. They sighed and nodded
"Okay, I think it's time for a breakfast", I smirked bringing the tray of snacks
"Baby", Hayden sighed and turned to him with a cup of hot chocolate "I told you not to interrupt when they're training"
"They've been doing this for three hours straight, they need a break", I replied handing him the cup "they are also 16 years old and need to be teenagers"
"I'm just trying to get them ready for anything", he commented and I nodded
"I know honey, but they are also missing out on family time and you have other duties to take care of", I stated placing my hand on his cheek "there's a carnival happening in a few hours and I want all of us to go"
"Okay sweetheart, just one more round", Hayden spoke and they groaned
"Let them rest for the rest of the day love, they've earned it", I replied easing a brow at him and he nodded in defeat "thank you. Children go get cleaned up"
"Yay!", thanks mommy!", Lilith cheered hugging me, I chuckled and kissed her forehead
"Traitor", Hayden called out as they hurried up stairs
"You'll have fun, I promise", I smiled kissing his cheek and he nodded. Things have definitely changed over the years, especially with the kids. They were really something else, but I loved them unconditionally. Lilith was a Daddy's girl, she stuck to his leg when she was younger. She's brilliant and selfless, she also wants to to be the pack's doctor. Although Hayden is a bit iffy about her decision, I support her always.
Josh was also just as smart as his little sister, but more to himself sometimes and leader material. He loves his sister and they have a healthy relationship with each other, which I love. I adore walking into the library and seeing them do homework together from school. Even when Lilith was shifting for the first time, Josh comfort her when she didn't want anyone around. I wasn't worried about anyone harming my children, not because bother of their parents are Alphas, but because they would protect each other always.
"Hey, come here", Hayden pulled on my waist and I whined, trying to return the tray to the kitchen
"Whaaa", I sighed and he gave me a serious look "why so serious?"
"I know that I've been business with working and training the kids", he said pouting a little and I smiled "I'm sorry and I want you to know that I haven't forgotten about my Queen"
"It's okay Hayden, I've been working too", I muttered and he shook his head
"True, but I am a husband and father first", he commented pulling me closer and lower his head to mine, leaning in "I love you"
"I love you too!", I smiled and wrapping my arms around his neck, lowering his lips on mine for a kiss. I have to admit, yes, he's been really busy but so have I. Usually in the morning it would be a peck on the lips then off to work, I missed the long make out sessions and heated moments. I bit his lip and he groaned- I love hearing that sound
"Our anniversary is next week, I want it to be just you and me", he whispered and I blushed "no distractions or interruptions. Anywhere you want to go"
"I will keep that in mind lover boy", I whispered back and he smirked "now are you going to change or?"
"Why? Does this look weird?", he questioned and we both looked down at his cargo shorts
"No, it's just that I always see you in your business attire", I stated and he nodded then dug for something in his pocket
"Almost forgot about this". He pulled out a gold necklace with a heart locket. I marveled at it as the kitchen light reflect off of it
"There's more", he smiled seeing my face and opened the locket revealing three pictures- Josh, Lilith, and Hayden himself. My three favorite people that I love with all my heart
"It's stunning Hayden, I love it", I gasped
"I knew you would", he replied putting the necklace on my neck and I smiled up at him "I feel a 'thank you' kiss coming"
"So full of yourself", I laughed and pressed my lips against his
"Ewww!", we heard someone yell and separated seeing out children "cooties!"
"Very funny", I gave the two a playful glare
"Oh no, I know that look", Josh spoke backing up and took Lilith's hand "run!"
"Get back here you rugrats!", I laughed running after them and Hayden by my side
"You guys are too old for this!", our daughter shouted and I gasped
"How dare you?!". Hayden and I finally caught up with them. Hayden took Lilith in his arms and smothered her with tickles while I squeezed Josh into a hug
"Ugh! Mom!", he groaned as I kissed his cheeks "this is embarrassing!"
"I love you Joshy bear!", I spoke in a baby voice and although he had the most straightest face, his cheeks were red
"I love you too mom", he mumbled looking down and I laughed- he's too much
"What about me mommy?", Lilith asked from Hayden's arms
"Of course, I love you too Princess", I chuckled and booked her nose "now let's get to this carnival.
