Chapter 1: Orphans in New York

(Noa's POV)

It was just a normal day in New York city, I was walking home from college and bumped into someone. "Hey Noa", and I immediately knew who I was talking to, "hey Esmee, where are you coming from, you had school right?" "Yes but Femke put salt in the coffee of our mathematic teacher and he trew up, so we have an hour off." " Alright I am going home because I have to go back to school in about 4 hours, are you coming with me ?" "No I am sorry I have to study for my exams, see you later!" "See you later Esmee!" Then I walked to the apartment that I shared with Linde, Esmee and Femke. When I opened the door I saw Linde sitting on the floor with books all around her, when she saw me she smiled. "Hey Noa! How are doing?" I looked at the mess around her and she noticed. "Uhh... this is nothing! I'm just studying!" she said. "Yes, I can see that.", I said. "Sorry, I'll clean it up when I'm done." Then I got to Femke's room and knocked on the door. Linde ran over to me. "Maybe it's not a good idea to go in there." She said quickly. "Why not?", I asked. "Well, let's just say that it kind of smells like alcohol in there. When she came home she said that she pranked the math teacher and after that she started drinking again." She explained. "Well that explains a lot", I said. Femke opened the door. She looked like she had a hangover. Wearing sweatpants, a loose T-shirt and her hair looked messy. I get the Advil! I yelled and ran to the kitchen."Shouldn't you stop drinking?" I hear Linde ask Femke. Femke just shrugged. "Nahh, what else am I supposed to do?" She asked with a hoarse voice. "Learn maybe?" "Nahh, I don't care I just wanna bang my boyfriend." She exclaimed. It was obviously drunktalk not that she doesn't do it that often enough. Blake is a sweetie and can't say no to Femke. Poor guy. "Well I am going to sleep for a few hours, Linde can you wake me up on half past three?" "Yes of course Noa, sleep well!" "Thanks!" And then I headed for my room to sleep for a few hours...

(Linde's POV)

A few hours later I knocked on Noa's door. "Noa, wake up! It's time!" I shouted at the door. I didn't get a reply so I opened the door and went in. Noa was still asleep. Alright if you won't wake up.... Then I got to the bathroom and filled a bucket with water, then I returned to the room and threw the bucket of water over Noa's head. "Heyyy! I told you to wake me up, not to give me a shower!" Noa literally screamed. "I tried! But you didn't hear me! So this is your own fault!" I shouted back. "If you had just imitated an alarm, I wouldn't be wet!" "I know. But this is more amusing!" I laughed. "You are worse than Thor, Linde! "I laughed even harder. Noa and I were crazy about Marvel and also Tolkien's books and Peter Jackson's movies. We often had a marathon and then we would watch all the extended editions from LotR, Th, Thor, Avengers and so much more. "Come on, I'll get you some dry clothes." I walked over to her closet and picked up a T-shirt with Loki on it and some black skinny jeans. "Here you go! Get changed, It's already 15:40." I walked out of the room and closed the door. Then Noa screamed, "And give me some Advil will you, I got a headache from Femke's alcohol scent."I laughed to myself. "Advil is coming!" "Noo it's Winter is coming!" I laughed out loud. I grabbed two glasses of water, one for me and one for her, and grabbed the Advil. I walked back to Noa's room and knocked on the door. "Are you finished?" I asked. The door opened and Noa was ready. I gave her the glass and the Advil. "Here you go!" I said happily. "And tell Femke to go drink somewhere else!" "I already did! Trust me!" I said sighing. "Okay, are you going with me to school?'' "Yes I will, but we better get going because we are going to be late!" "Okay let's get going!" Noa said enthusiastically.

We arrived in class just in time. Noa and I sat down at our desk and took out our biology books. "Uhggg why does it has to be biology." Noa said irritated. "Because we want to work in a lab and we need to follow this lesson in order for us to pass our exams," I said. "Uhggg, but it's so boringggg!" I nodded agreeing. "I know. It's only a revision of what we learned this year. If this man doesn't stop talking, I'll split his pretty head open." I said in a whisper. Noa softly giggled and we turned our attention to our work.

70 minutes later the school bell rang and our school day was finally over. Noa and I walked to our lockers. They were next to each other. I opened my locker and grabbed my jacket. When Noa was done we went back to the apartment and when we walked inside we found Femke on the ground with multiple bottles around her. "Hey, why are you two home so early?" Femke asked surprised. "Early?" Noa and I exclaimed in unison. "Yes early, you had school right?" "School is done, besides it's already 17:25. School was finished 25 minutes ago!" Noa walked over to Femke and picked up all the bottles and put them back in a cabinet and threw away the empty ones. "Noa do you want to help me cook dinner or are we just going to order something?" I asked while opening the fridge and grabbing some cola. "Do you want a glass of cola?" "Yes please." Noa said. I came walking to the living room with 2 glasses of cola and gave one to Noa. "Thanks". "Your welcome!" I said. "But what should we do? Cook or just order something?" I asked. " Well, maybe we should order something, because Femke can't stay at home like that!" Noa said with her finger pointed at Femke. "Yes, you have a point there. So what should we order?" "Maybe pizza?" Noa said. "Okay, but can you go get it, because then we don't have to pay for the driver." "Yes of course Linde! But then Esmee has to take care of Femke right?" Noa said sarcastically. " don't worry Noa, she will." "Okay, Let's go!" Noa said enthusiastically. And then we were off...
