(Esmee's POV)
I looked at all the orcs that surrounded the campfire. I could only slightly feel the warmth of the fire but other than that I was freezing. If the orcs will not kill me the cold will. I was tied to a tree with a rope around my chest and my hands were also tied behind my back. I leaned my head backwards. I was tired but I felt like if I would fall asleep the orcs would kill me in my sleep. The orcs were shouting and feasting on their food. I seemed very calm on the outside but on the inside I was terrified.
I heard some twigs break behind me and I looked to my side. A hooded figure sat next to the tree I was bound to. The figure gestured for me to keep quiet and that's what I did. If this person could free me I wasn't going to ruin this. The figure climbed the tree. I looked up and saw the figure aiming at the orcs with its bow. He released the first arrow and it swiftly brought down an orc.
The orcs looked up in surprise and all their head shot towards me. "What did you do, woman?" One asked with a foul voice. "I didn't do anything!" I said. Another orc fell dead. "You did it again!" Another orc exclaimed. "How?" I asked. The third orc fell dead. "There from up in the tree!" One of the orcs shouted pointing at the tree. "The arrows are coming from the top!" He added. I looked up and saw the hooded figure pressing their back against the trunk. Who was this person?
(Linde's POV)
I pressed my back against the tree and inhaled deeply. "Get down from there, coward!" An orc shouted. "Or we'll kill the girl!" I heard a scream and I looked down. One of the orcs was untying Esmee and he pulled her off the ground. He pressed a dagger against her throat. I jumped down from the tree and faced the orcs. "Remove your hood!" One said. "Or die a nobody!" Another said.
Hesitantly I removed my hood and Esmee gasped. "An elleth?" One of the orcs asked in confusion. "What are you doing here, she-elf?" The orc that held Esmee captive asked. "I am here to release my friend." I calmly said but the orcs scoffed. "That's a good one, she-elf!" "You think so? Thanks! I've been working on that for a while. I hope it wasn't a bit too much, you think it was too much?" I asked and the orcs looked confused and so did Esmee.
"I don't know what kind of games you're playing, she-elf, but I don't like them!" The biggest orc said. "You want to play a different game? How about hide-and-seek? It's one of my favourites!" I suggested. "We give you one chance, or you surrender and we let you live, or we kill you!" "Oh, well, then I surrender! We aren't finished playing yet!" I said and an orc walked towards me and slammed me against the tree.
"What game should we play first? Shall we play hide-and-seek? I really, really like that game. I always used to play that when I was little." I said and the big orc glared at me. "Not hide-and-seek?! That's okay we can play something else! What about tag?" I asked. The orc that was binding me against the tree looked at his leader. "I prefer hide-and-seek." The orc said. His leader shot him a glare and the orc continued his work and then stood up. His leader gave him Esmee and he bound her next to me.
The leader of the orcs stood in front of me. "It is wiser if you shut up, if you want to live, that is." He said and walked back to the fire. "Okay! We can play later!" I said and the orc was done binding us and also walked to the fire. "Linde, I hope you have a plan." Esmee said looking worried. "Plan? Well, let's say that if Thranduil doesn't believe Femke and if he doesn't send out guards, we're dead." I said and Esmee sighed. "Great, we're going to die."
(Noa's POV)
We quickly galloped through the forest following Femke. In no time Femke stopped. "The orcs are very close now." She said and Thranduil nodded. "Legolas, take a dozen guards and go around the back with Femke. You attack after we've fired the first shot." Thranduil ordered and Legolas nodded. He took the guards and Femke and the galloped around the camp. "Noa, dismount your horse." Thranduil said dismounting his elk. I did as he said and we sneaked closer to the noise.
