(Noa's POV)
"You have two days. If you can't find them, return without them." Thranduil said with a stern look. "Yes, father." Legolas said and bowed his head. "I will go with him." I said. "Are you sure? There are a lot of orcs out there." Thranduil whispered. "Of course, I'll be fine." I said and Thranduil nodded. "I'm sure, Legolas will look after you."
I briefly smiled at Thranduil and followed Legolas who had already left. I met him at the gates after picking up my weapons. "Let's hurry. I want Tauriel and Linde back as soon as possible." Legolas said and I nodded. "Understood." We made our way through the forest on our way to the river. When we reached the river we followed it.
Along the way we found a small puddle of blood. I looked at Legolas with big eyes. "It's one of the dwarves. He got shot by an arrow." Legolas said to reassure me that Linde and Tauriel were fine. I was still worried though, Legolas doesn't know, neither does anyone else (except Linde), but I care about Kili. I loved his character both in the book and movies.
I was terrified because I knew what was about to come, (SPOILER ALERT!!!) a big war and lots of death. I knew what would happen to the line of Durin and I would do anything in my power to prevent it. I almost felt guilty because Esmee and Femke had no idea of the horror that was coming closer by the minute. They had no idea of the pain they would suffer if I didn't stop the war from happening.
In the distance I saw the fiery red of Tauriel's hair. We silently walked towards Linde and Tauriel who stopped out of nowhere. For some reason Legolas drew his bow and I frowned at him for doing so. Then Tauriel whipped around and came to a crouch with her bow drawn. Linde turned and looked at us with a frown.
"Ingannen le Orch!" (I thought you were an orc) Tauriel said and both her and Legolas lowered their bows. "Ci Orch im, dangen le." (If I were an orc, you would be dead) Legolas replied and Tauriel stood up. Legolas took a few steps towards Tauriel and Linde. "Tauriel you cannot hunt thirty orcs on your own." Legolas said. "But I'm not on my own." Tauriel stated. "You knew I'd come." Tauriel smiled at Legolas.
"Yeah, I knew you would come as well!" Linde said waving her hand in the air shortly. "Apparently that is totally irrelevant." She said lowering her voice but loud enough for all of us to hear. Legolas briefly looked at her before looking back at Tauriel. "The king is angry, Tauriel. For 600 years, my father has protected you, favored you. You defied his orders. You betrayed his trust."
"Dandolo na nin, e gohenatha." (Come back with me, he will forgive you.) Legolas said looking at Tauriel with a hopeful expression. "Ú-'ohenathon. Cí dadwenithon, ú-'ohenathon im." Tauriel replied. I didn't exactly know what it meant but looking at Legolas' face it meant something along the lines of "no". "The king has never let orc-filth from our lands, yet he would let this orc-pack cross our borders and kill our prisoners." Tauriel said.
"It is not our fight." Legolas argued. "It is our fight. It will not end here!" Linde exclaimed. "With every victory, this evil will grow. If your father has his way, we will do nothing. We will hide within our walls, live our lives away from the light, and let darkness descend. Are we not part of this world?" Tauriel said remaining calm.
"Tell me mellon, when did we let evil become stronger than us?" Tauriel asked keeping eye contact with Legolas. In the back I saw Linde glare at Tauriel but when she caught me staring she looked away ashamed. I frowned at her and then sighed.
(Femke's POV)
I sat by a blazing fireplace and watched the flames dance and change from red to blue. We were in the house of Bard, a simple barchman, in Lake-Town. Bard has brought us closer to the mountain and offered us the only weapons he could get. But... they weren't really weapons. They were more like tools recycled into weapons. They could be deadly but you could sure as hell injure yourself as well.
Thorin and a few other dwarves were making plans on what to do now. Bard had just left the house and instructed us to stay put because we wanted to get the weapons in the armoury. "Femke! We're leaving!" Thorin shortly said and I nodded. We left the house and snuck towards where we had seen guards enter before and presumed that was the armoury because they would always enter with weapons and leave without.
Esmee walked next to me. "Are you sure this is a good idea?" She asked slightly worried. "I'm sure we'll be fine." I shortly answered and heard Esmee sigh. We finally reached the armoury and some of the dwarves made a stair so the others could enter through an open window. I was second and climbed the dwarf-stairs and tumbled through the window into the building.
I saw racks filled with weapons and grinned. "Christmas's coming early." I whispered and stood up and helped up a few other dwarves. We grabbed as many weapons as we could and Thorin passed them on to Kili. He walked down the stairs but only after a few seconds we heard the clanging of steel and we heard a thud.
I looked at the stairs in shock. The sound of shouting men came closer and I deeply sighed and looked at Thorin. We were taken away by guards and they brought us all to the Master's house. We stopped in front of the stairs. Not much later a fat man walked outside still pulling on his coat. "What is the meaning of this?" He asked angrily.
"We caught them stealing weapons, sire." Braga, head of the guards, said. "Ah, enemies of the state, then." "This is a bunch of mercenaries if ever there was, sire." A man next to the Master clothed in black clothes, which were too small, said.
I slightly jumped when Dwalin started shouting next to me. "Hold your tongue! You do not know to whom you speak! This is no common criminal! This is Thorin, son of Thrain, son of Thror!" Dwalin gestured towards Thorin and he stepped forward. "We are the dwarves of Erebor."
The crowd started whispering and the Master narrowed his eyes at us. "We have come to reclaim our homeland. I remember this town and the great days of old. Fleets of boats lay at harbor, filled with silks and fine gems. This was no forsaken town on a lake! This was the center of all trade in the North." Thorin said recalling the past and looking at every individual in the crowd.
Everyone nodded remembering exactly the same thing. "I would see those days return. I would relight the great forges of the dwarves and send wealth and riches flowing once more from the halls of Erebor!" The crowd cheered and clapped and the Master was considering everything carefully.
Then, a voice came from the crowd and Bard appeared. "Death! That is what you will bring upon us! Dragonfire and ruin. If you awaken that beast, it will destroy us all." He said dead seriously, making shivers go down my spine. "You can listen to this naysayer, but I promise you this; If we succeed, all will share in the wealth of the mountain. You will have enough gold to rebuild Esgaroth ten times over!" Thorin shouted raising his voice as the words left his mouth.
The crowd sounded very excited and they applauded. Bard looked around desperately. "All of you! Listen to me! You must listen! Have you forgotten what happened to Dale?" Everyone lowered their voices and looked on sadly. "Have you forgotten those who died in the firestorm?!"
"No!" Voices from the crowd shouted. "And for what purpose? The blind ambition of a mountain-king so riven by greed, he could not see beyond his own desire!" Bard continued. Bard and Thorin exchanged an angry stare and the crowd only got louder and louder.
The Master stepped forward. "Now, now, we must not, any of us, be too quick to lay blame. Let us not forget that it was Girion, Lord of Dale, your ancestor, who failed to kill the beast!" The Master said pointing at Bard. I looked at Bard with a frown. He has royal blood? "It's true, sire. We all know the story: arrow after arrow he shot, each one missing its mark." The Master's councillor said. The crowd shouted at Bard angrily.
Bard steps towards Thorin. "You have no right, no right to enter that mountain." He says. "I have the only right." Thorin whispers back.
