"Later baby." Sky kissed me before he headed out the door and I sat up and watched as the door close behind him. I was actually kind of sad that he had to go to work.
I mean last night had my head so fucked up because I was ready to leave him and everything, but then he made me realize... Nobody else could make me feel as good as he did.
So, I figured I'd just have to bear the burden of having two men in my life. Poor me, right?
Still recovering from last night, it took me a few minutes before I gained the strength to get out of bed. After I threw on one of Sky's T-shirts and a pair of boy shorts, I snatched Sasha off the bed and headed straight to the kitchen to fix a bowl of Frosted Flakes.
"Melanie, you better leave his no good ass!" I yelled at the TV with a mouth full of cereal, getting into an old rerun of The Game while Sasha and I lounged on the couch in the living room.
"You're my little secret and that's how we should keep it..."
I swiftly grabbed my cell phone off of the coffee table. Already knowing who was calling by the personalized ring tone, I sang, "Hey baby" into the receiver.
"Where are you?" Elgin jumped straight to the point.
"At home why?"
"I thought you were coming over for ten?"
I looked at the phone for its time.
Damn, it's twelve already?
"Hello?" He snapped.
"Ye-yeah baby, but I'm not feeling so good right now. I think it's that time of the month."
"Well I can just come to you and I'll..."
"No baby, I just want to get some rest." I tried to sound like I was in pain.
"Damn, so I guess I'm not going to see you today."
"Sorry baby."
"No, don't worry about it. I need to stop by the barbershop anyways."
"Okay then."
"Call me when you're feeling better."
"Alright baby."
I hung up and walked into the kitchen to put the now empty bowl away.
"This boy here," I thought aloud and opened the dishwasher to find that it was already filled with dirty dishes.
I sat my bowl in the sink, popped one of those Cascade detergent packs into the dishwasher and turned the dial to ON.
On my way back into the living room I spotted trash piled nearly to the ceiling in the garbage can.
Sighing heavily, I moved toward the reeking trashcan with my hand covering my nose. With my other hand, I grabbed the handle of it and hauled it all the way outside to the side of the house.
As soon as I made it back inside I slipped, almost busting my ass, in a puddle of... I-don't-know-what-the-fuck.
"I might as well clean the whole damn house!" I screamed in frustration and for the next hour, that was exactly what I did.
Now I was in the kitchen trying to make Sky's favorite, gumbo. But I didn't think making that shit would be so hard!
Carefully following the directions in a cookbook, I tried to make the roux, for the second time!
