"Baby, where are we going?"

"It's a surprise." Sky smiled at me as I followed him to the front door.

"How I'ma know what to wear if I don't know where I'm going?"

"Just put on something sexy."

"Whatever boy," I said, one foot out of the door.

"Ay, I need to go pick something up, but I'ma be back in li'l bit a'ight?"

"Okay."

"And wear that necklace I bought," he hollered as the door slammed behind him.

After locking the door, I took off to the bathroom to take a shower. After bushing my semi damp hair into a neat French bun, I donned my favorite black dress and eased my feet into a pair of patent leather stilettos. Then I rummaged through my jewelry box for the sterling silver double chain necklace that Sky bought and looked in the mirror.

"Maybe one day he'll be able to afford the type of expensive jewelry Nique buys for Kyrielle," I sighed as I adorned the necklace around my neck then put in my matching chandelier earrings.

My look was complete after slipping a few silver bangles on my wrist then I waited in the living room on the couch for Sky to return. I swear I had to have been waiting for like thirty minutes before I heard Sky honking his horn. Before I left I fixed a bowl of Alpo and some fresh water for Sasha.

"Took you long enough," I said before getting in the car.

"Shit I'm surprise you wasn't still getting ready."

"Whatever." I sucked my teeth. "I hope I didn't overdress."

"No, you look perfect." He checked me out before peeling off.

"Now are you going to tell me where we're going?" I asked, pulling out a tube of red lipstick from my purse.

"I'm taking you to dinner." He grinned.

Those damn dimples!

"So what's the special occasion?"

"Why does it have to be a special occasion for me to take my girl out?"

"Sky, when's the last time we went out?"

"It hasn't been that long."

"We haven't been out since... we went on that double date with Kyrielle and Nique."

"Shit it's been that long?"

"Yup it's been that long," I nodded as we arrived in front of the restaurant.

I watched as Sky got out of the car and walked over to open my door. I hadn't noticed how handsome he looked in his tailored pinstriped suit.

"You have on a suit boy?" I said in astonishment because that nigga rarely sported suits, but I had to admit, my baby did clean up nicely.

"See, that's how much you pay attention to me," he said and grabbed my outreached hand and helped me out of the car.

"Don't scratch her up," he told the valet dude and gave him the key to the car.

Like that's a Bentley or some shit. I rolled my eyes without him noticing.

He grabbed my hand and we entered the restaurant.

Thinking ahead, Sky had already made reservations so we didn't have to wait in line.

We took our seats at a booth in the back of the restaurant and made small talk to kill time until the waiter arrived.
