"Morning honey," Kyrielle greeted me as she sashayed her way into my room with a huge platter of food. "How did we sleep last night?" she wanted to know as she pulled back the dim curtains to welcome in the rays of the beaming sun.
"Like shit," I told her, throwing the cover over my face.
"Rough night huh? Well breakfast will cheer you up." She tried to maintain her cheerful disposition as she sat beside me. "We've got some scrambled eggs, an English muffin, some apple juice..."
"Not hungry."
"So what do you want Jasmine? Would you rather I just leave you to rot?"
"That's fine." I honestly didn't care.
"Okay that's it." She sat the tray on the nightstand and threw the cover off of the bed. "It's been a week now Jay, a whole fucking week, you need to get your ass up and get over this fucking bullshit. The nigga beat you damn near to death and you still want to cry over him?"
"Because I love him and I'm worried about him. I've tried calling both his cell and house phone, but he never picks up. I just want to talk to him Kyrielle."
"Talk about what Jasmine? What more can you fucking say? You want to tell him why you was fucking that guy or how good it was?"
"I didn't mean to do it though!"
"The fuck you mean you didn't mean to do it? What, you just fell on the other nigga's dick and couldn't get up?"
"No bitch! I mean I didn't mean for it to happen the way it did. I didn't plan for him to find out, not like that."
"Okay let's say you call Sky and he finally answers. How would you even explain yourself to him?"
"I would probably tell him, 'you know I love you and you know my heart belongs to you, but I was lonely and you were always at work. Then I started noticing how you and Roxie were getting closer and it had me thinking.' And that's the truth."
"Okay and Sky would tell you how he was always at work to provide for you. That man was trying to build something permanent with you while you was out there fucking the next dude. Come on now Jay, ain't nobody dumb. Just be real with yourself, you did what you did because you don't love Sky. And he fell out of love with you the moment he laid his hands on you. You need to get over him and move the fuck on!"
Her harsh words felt like somebody had jammed a knife through my heart.
All I wanted was to tell him how sorry I was and I would never make such a stupid ass mistake again. I fucked up, but all I needed was one more chance.
I know I fucked up and took you for granted Sky, but I just need to hear your voice. I just need to know if you're okay.
"I just wish I could have handled the situation differently Kyrielle."
"Listen," she grabbed my face, bringing hers so close to mine that I could smell the spearmint on her breath. "I'm only telling you this because I love you. Yeah you were wrong, but that nigga had no fucking right to put his hands on you. Do you realize that Sky could've killed you? And he probably would have if I didn't get there when I did. You don't need him, or any other nigga for that matter. You just need to worry about Jasmine right now."
"Mm hmm," I hummed as I turned my head. I wasn't trying to hear her.
"You can be mad all you want, but I'm not about to let you just slowly wither away in this damn bed." She stood up and snatched the tray off of the nightstand and sat it on my lap. "I need to make a run, but when I come back, I'ma get you out of this house 'cause you need some fresh air. But in the mean time you need to eat."
