Tuesday had rolled back around and, instead of spending another boring hour and fifteen minutes talking about random bullshit that was going on in my life, I decided to ditch the meeting with my counselor to kick it with my girl. In fact, I hadn't even stepped foot on the school's campus since my last session with Dr. B. With all the other shit that was going on in my life at the moment, college was the furthest thing from my mind. I needed a break!
"This place is ratchet," I whispered to Khandi as she and I meandered through the cramped spaces of a small adult boutique.
The walls of the shop were covered with smut and various types of sex toys and along the floor were sporadically placed racks of skimpy lingerie and cheesy costumes. It had been our third stop on the search for some new, sexy gear to add to Khandi's exotic costume collection.
"I know, don't you love it?" Khandi squealed skipping over to a display shelf of shoes.
"These are cute." I picked up a suede, Mary Jane styled platform shoe in mauve.
"I like the double ankle straps, but I don't do chunky heels. Now this..." she said snatching up a platform sandal with a ballerina styled lace-up tie. "This is more of my style."
Taking the shoe out of her hand I said, "You already have enough shoes Khandi. Now let's hurry up and get what you come here to get so we can be on our way."
"What's the rush? It ain't like you've got something better to do anyways?"
"We've been at it for hours now Khandi and I'm starving!"
"Alright you little hungry hoe," she said as she began searching through the racks of clothing. "This is perfect!" She picked out a red and black mini skirt with a white button down half shirt that was tied at the bottom.
"Going for the innocent, sexy school girl look?"
"Yeah, I know it's kind of cliché, but it'll be cute for your first time."
"My first time?"
"On stage. I talked to Ace about it and he's ready whenever you are."
"Are you serious?"
"Yes, you said you wanted to dance right?"
"I said I was thinking about it," I corrected her.
"Well what is there to think about? If you're trying to establish a little something for yourself right quick, then dancing is the easiest way to go about it. Just try it and if you don't like it you can always quit. You need to let go of your inhibitions."
"It's not like that, it's just..."
"The bestie doesn't approve," Khandi tried to finish my sentence.
"No, I don't care if Kyrielle approves or not. She has nothing to do with the decisions I make," I said snatching the costume out of her hand.
"Speaking of the devil..." Khandi said slapping my arm. "Isn't that your girl over there?"
"Where?" My head was moving from side to side like Stevie Wonder as I scoped out the store.
Khandi pointed at the store's entrance. "Coming through the door fool!"
"Yeah that's her," I confirmed, watching Kyrielle sashay into the store.
"Well I think it's time that I meet this chick," Khandi said pulling my arm.
Not budging I let her know, "I don't feel like being bothered with Kyrielle's behind today."
Pretending like she didn't just hear what I said, Khandi took it upon herself to call Kyrielle over. "Hey Ri-Ri!" Khandi called out, seizing Kyrielle's attention.
