5. Road To Fame

I scratched my shoe and enter the shop. I ordered some burgers because i'm craving like shit. Wala na akong ginawa kundi kumain, uminom at matulog these past few days. Tataba ako nito! Hayaan na. It's not like everyone knows me and anyone noticed me whenever i show up. Kahit gusto kong pumasok wala akong magawa. Kahit nandiyan sina Nolan to cheer me up, to stay with me, wala parin. Hindi ko na kailangan ng marami pang kahihiyan. Everytime i see hallways all i could think about was that day. It wasn't really a big deal for me until it was filmed and gone viral. If i have to repeat, i was killed. And i'm half dead. And i need to relive. I need to be alive again. Kailangan ko lang makahanap ng paraan para mabuhayan ulit ng loob. I must do something worthy. Something heroic. Or yet something good. Or cool. Para somehow makalimutan ng tao yung nagawa kong nakakahiya. At para makabalik na ako sa soon-to-be "good" life na sana nangyayari na ngayon. God. If i could just delete that day.

Now i am walking through these houses. I imagined walking through the hallway. Pretending everything's fine. But i still can't. Paliko na ako sa right side nang may narinig akong ingay. Sinundan ko ito hanggang sa makita ko ang grupo ng lalaking pinapalibutan ang isang batang lalaki. Bullies? He needs help.

"Hoy. Layuan niyo yung bata!" Sabi ko as i came near to him.

"And who are you? His father?" Sagot ng isa sa mga lalaki. Itong isang 'to mukhang pinaglihi kay four arms. Pero wala akong pake.

"I might not be. I'm Declan. " sabi ko.

"Declan who?" Tanong pa nang isa.

Then i punched him on the face. He tried to punch me back but i kicked him first. The other one punched my nose so i punched him in the jaw 2 times and knee his balls. The other one tried to kick me on my back. I fell. Pero tumayo ulit ako at sinuntok siya sa mata. Sabay i knee his stomach. Well done. Three down. Winner!

"So. That's me. That's declan. Got it now?" Sabi ko sabay alis. I didn't even bother to talk to the kid. I saw the look on his face while i battle with those three idiots. That look na parang ayaw niya nang nakikita niya. Na ayaw niya akong kaibigan. Like that.

I grabbed my bag and get to home. Sana okey pa tong Burgers ko. Well ibinaba ko naman yung bag ko before i came to war. So. Sana nga.

I opened the front door and mom saw me.

"Oh my god declan what happened?" She gasps.

" i don't want to talk about it." Sabi ko sabay akyat papuntang kwarto.

I thrown my bag and took off my shoe. Man, did I just picked up a fight? That's a first. Kahit ako hindi rin makapaniwala sa nagawa ko. I was a hero. I was. Dahil sa mga tumatakbo sa isip ko, i was forced to do something. Kailangan kong gawin para sa mga taong katulad ko. They should stood up to themeselves. I sat infront of the camera and shoot myself.

"So, hi guys. It's me. The infamous Declan Andrew Potter. You know, the one with the duck-zombie walk. Whatever. Ah-i just want to share something. Today, i saved someone. I saved someone from bullies. See these bruises? I mean, isa rin akong loner. Back then, and it feels right. Maybe, i just want to say, sa lahat ng nerd, sa lahat ng nabu-bully, girl or boy, gay or straight, lesbian or not, we should learn to stand up for ourselves. Lahat magsisimula sa'yo. Just like respect. If you respect yourself, everybody has their right to respect you. We don't need anyone to defend us. We have ourselves. So i say, you people, go out there and face the real world with confidence. That's how we'll get away from every soft person we used to be."

Patuloy ako sa pagsasalita nang kung anu-ano at pagkatapos ay pinost ito sa facebook.

Matapos ang ilang araw hindi muna ako lumabas ng bahay. At kahit internet hindi ako gumamit. I promised myself na hindi na ako titingin sa comments ng ibang tao if ever man na makita nila yung ginawa kong video to pay off that hallway thing. I just buried myself in bed and dealt with myself to face highschool for the last time with confidence, 'cause if it worked, i just might be able to bring my supposed-to-be high school life before everything that has to do with Ben freaking Tanner.

This is the day. This is the day when everyone will praise me, or everyone will hate me, again. If they will, i might be double-dead by now. I have to take a deep breath. This is my last shot. This is the last chance. Hingang malalim sabay baba ng kotse. Breathe in, breathe out, brother.
Pagpasok ko ng hallway, everyone was looking at me. I can't tell if they're angry or not. But i have to know. So i really walked slowly.

"Declan Effing Potter. You're the man, bro! " akbay ni Drew Storwack. Isa sa mga famous yet good people sa loob ng Montreal High School.

"Thanks. You saw the vid?" Tanong ko.

"Ofcourse i did. You were brave. That's all we needed to know. Alam mo na kung paano kumawala sa worst version of you." Sabi niya sabay handshake pa saakin.

As we go down the hallway, people were clapping. People were shouting like i was some superstar. Wow. This is just what i imagined ages ago. And it happened.

Until the bell rang. Everyone left the hallway habang ako naglalakad parin papuntang room ko.

" something fucking Potter." Bigla kong narinig mula sa likod ko. Teka, i know that voice. Ano bang ginawa ko sakanya?

"It's Declan Andrew Potter. Not 'Something Fucking Something', Carlo." Sagot ko sakanya.

"News flash Potter, i don't care. Look, kung sa tingin mo sikat kana sa ginawa mong video, think again. Ako parin ang Virginator ng school." Bigla niyang paglapit saakin.

"Well dude, news flash too, i don't fucking care. But since it pisses you off, we'll see about that. Man, i really want to say this to you, You're going down, bitch!" Sabi ko sabay turo sa sahig.

"Well the game is on! Let's restart the game but now, there's some changes. It's not about paubusan ng na-virginan, which i will obviously win, sorry. It's now about territories. Virgin or not, it's okay. As long as wala pa siyang sign ng territorya natin. Get it?" Sabi niya na parang panalo na talaga siya.

"Sure. Anong territorial sign mo?" I asked.

"Let's see. When you see a letter 'c' on her legs, she was already mine." Sagot niya.

"Ok then. Kapag nakita mo naman ang letter 'd' sa legs niya,just back off already. " sagot ko naman.

"The game is on, Potter."

"You're going down, bitch!"
