9.10.2084 Sunday Night
I don’t know why I kept saying that this would be the last night, but it is always the same night after night. I had to prowl. I had to hunt. There was no fighting the urge when it came. I had to kill, which is why no one knew where the deer disappeared to. If they did, they would be shocked.
I silently waited with my claws extending slowly into the dirt. The deer moved into my sight and I could already taste the juicy meat on my tongue. I sprang from the bushes and onto the buck, raking my claws through its hide. Blood streaked though its fur, while the deer began to slow its pace; but I wasn’t ready to end this game. I nipped its hind legs, making it leap forward. I pounced again, landing easily onto its back, and knocked it to the ground. I purred as it struggled to get out from under me, but it was a futile attempt. I bit down on its throat and the deer’s life ended. Now I could enjoy my feast before heading home.
