9.25.2084 Monday Afternoon
“Alright, I’m here,” I hissed, crossing my arms as I stood on the school steps. Mingan grabbed my hand carefully and pulled me along the sidewalk. “Ming, where are we going?” I snapped as I tried to free my wrist, but his grip held. I hated that he hadn’t told me, but then again I hadn’t brought it up either.
“My house,” he answered as he shot me a concerned glance before releasing his grip. I stopped and he just looked at me with pleading eyes. “Please come.”
“But your family…” I started, backing away. There was no way that I would willingly walk into a wolf’s den.
“Only person that will be there is my sister, Mani, and she is still harmless,” he yipped as he gently grabbed my hands, rubbing his thumbs into my skin. “My father and brothers should be hunting.”
“Ming, I’ll be in danger,” I mewed as I glanced away, but his hand caught me under the chin and brought my face back to his.
“I’ll protect you… I always will…” he told quickly, pressing his lips to mine. A spark shot between us and the next thing I knew, he was leading me into his house and right onto the living room couch.
I sat there as he rushed into the kitchen to grab us a couple of sodas. I glanced around, surprised to see how vacant it was. Beside the couch, there was one more chair and a small coffee table; plus, there was probably no more than two pictures on the fireplace mantle. I heard footsteps and quickly looked up to find a girl, younger than Pete, in front of me. “So you’re the girl that Ming can’t stop talking about,” the girl calmly said as one finger twirled her long black hair, while her brown eyes scanned me head to toe.
“And you must be Mani,” I replied and she nodded. “Cute name. Mine is Kitty.”
She stared at me strangely for a second; then Mingan walked in with our sodas. “I thought you said her name was Katherine,” Mani demanded with her arms crossed.
“Her name is Katherine,” he muttered confused as he tried to hand me a can, but his hand shook; so I quickly snatched it and he sent me a relieved smile.
“My nickname is Kitty,” I purred and Mani shrugged before heading up the nearby stairs.
“Sorry about that,” he sighed as he settled himself beside me with his arm resting on the back of the chair instead of around my shoulders.
“No problem…so what did you wanna talk about? Saying your little secret is out…” I inquired as I popped the tab before slowly slipping the soda. The fizz tickled my nose, making me almost sneeze.
“I’m sorry for last night,” he replied as he scooted even closer to me, making our hips touched.
I enjoyed his touch, but I didn’t know what to do. “Don’t worry about it,” I whispered as I finally decided to lean against him, soaking in his warmth.
“I want to make it up to you. How about your brother and you come to the park tonight and we throw a party beside the lake?” he suggested as he carefully wrapped his arm around my shoulders, but I liked it.
“Okay and you are right that you owe me…Mani comes too…plus…I wanna invite Mone and her sis…” I replied as I stared into his gorgeous eyes.
“Fine,” he mumbled happily, leaning in.
