9.25.2084 Monday Night
Pete, Eva, Mone, and I sat beside the lake, letting the cold water lap our toes. “So my mom seemed overexcited that your bo is a wolf…” Mone commented as she glanced at me.
“Over excited, huh?” I laughed as I looked at her; then I stopped at her worried face. “How do you mean?”
“She kept saying that this was a big chance as she ran through the house…” Evancese Wallace told as she pulled her feet in. “What did she mean? Kitty, you got an idea?” She tugged on her brown hair before Mone grabbed her hand.
“No idea, Eva,” I sighed as I glanced at the watch on my wrist. “He is…”
“Hey Katherine!” yelled Mingan as he walked up from behind me, carefully placing his hands on my shoulders.
“Hi Ming,” I purred as I turned toward him, our noses touching and my smile grew.
“You going to introduce us?” Mani asked as she pushed her way between us.
“Sure,” I hissed before taking a deep breath. “This is Mone and her sister, Eva,” I told as I pointed to my best friend as she held Eva’s hand. “And this is my brother, Pete.” I threw my arm around him and he grinned.
“Very nice to meet you…” Pete started, holding his hand out to Mani.
“Mani,” she told as she shook his hand, making him blush; then laughter erupted from the bushes.
Ming glanced at the bushes before groaning. “Looks like we were followed. Sorry Katherine,” Mingan whispered before kissing my cheek as his brothers appeared. Mingan put a protective arm around me and Peter hissed, but Mone slapped him. “Everyone, this is my older brother, Amir,” he pointed at the one with silver instead of black hair; then he turned toward the shorter, “and this is Tang.”
Tang had deep black hair and dull gray eyes, while he stood a couple inches shorter than Ming and a little taller than Mani. “Ming, dad has been searching all over for you!” Tang growled and Eva clung tighter to Mone.
“He wants you to come home now,” Amir told as he stepped forward, letting the moon make his brown eyes glow. “You should come too, Mani.”
“Otherwise, he will be p.o.ed and we all will take the brunt…If I take a brunt for you…you will owe me big time,” Tang continued as he bared his teeth. “Plus, you know how dad feels about cats…”
“Tang! That’s enough! We are just here to hang! And…We told mom before we left!” Mani snapped as she strode right up to Tang and put her finger in his face. “You’re just jealous that we didn’t invite you!”
“She isn’t dangerous?” I whispered with a purr as I watched Mani.
“I said yet,” Ming laughed quickly as he glanced at me.
“Come on, Tang. It’s not worth getting our hinds tanned too,” Amir commented, putting a hand on his younger brother’s shoulder. Tang pushed his hand off as he growled. “Tang…” Amir warned as he watched Tang stomp toward the trees.
We all saw Tang reach the safety of the shadows before there was a blinding flash, leaving Tang lying on the ground. A cloud of smoke spread across the grass as another flash happened beside Mone and Eva. Everyone coughed, trying to find clean air. I edged toward the lake, pulling Pete with me; then I passed out, inches away from where the smoke cleared.
