Mone bounced on my bed as I went over what had happened under the pine. She kept oooing and aahing, whenever I mentioned our eyes meeting. Finally she asked, "What you wearing for the ‘date?’" She did the finger quotations in the air.
"I was thinking my blue silk blouse and some black dress pants," I answered as I leaned against the dresser top.
"Are you going to an interview or a date with probably the hottest guy in school!" Mone exclaimed as she jumped off my bed, making a dash to the closet across the room.
"The second one," I sighed as I watched her pull out a dress then put it back as quickly. She continued till she yanked out the lavender dress from a cousin’s wedding a year ago. It was strapless and barely reached my knees; plus, it has a ribbon around the middle with a flower a little to the left of the center. "You think I should wear that?" I questioned as I took it from her.
"Yes! Now go try it on!" she urged as she pushed me into the bathroom, shutting the door between us.
I slipped off my comfortable clothes and reached under the sink for my spare panty hose and strapless bra. I pulled the dress on and glanced at the mirror to find my eyes looked calmer, but my hair was still a fiery mess. I opened the door and Mone yanked me from the bathroom. "So?" I asked with a twirl.
"I’m not done yet, sweetheart," she told as she pushed me onto my bed. She threw open my dresser drawers, searching for my hair and make-up supplies. She grabbed what she needed and started on my hair, leaving it mostly down. She braided as small part in the middle, letting the braid float among my other hair. Next she got my purple eye-shadow, ruby-red lipstick, and a little blush. She applied it evenly before she stepped back to look at her work proudly. "Okay, done now."
I slid off the bed and walked over to the mirror. "Woa…" I gasped as I saw myself. ‘I look like a princess,’ I thought before I turned to face Mone, but found my mom in the doorway.
"You’re beautiful, darling," my mom told as she came gave me a hug. My mom was pretty tall with green emerald eyes and blond short hair. She was a cook for a restaurant; so usually dinner was leftover stuff from there. "What’s the occasion?"
"A date," I answered as I held her gaze.
"With a hot guy," Mone finished as she returned to her spot on my bed.
"Edward or Jacob hot?" Mom inquired as she took a step back, picking up my Twilight homework for a class studying myths of Vampires. I had downloaded all the movies onto my tablet and my mom had watched them like a million times by now, saying her grandmother used to love this movie.
"Edward!" I replied, while Mone screamed, "Jacob!"
"Oh I see. He is hotter than both, huh?" my mom asked quickly, laying my homework back on the desk.
"Yea…" I muttered embarrassed.
"Alright. I will leave you two alone," my mom told as she slipped toward the doorway.
"I got to go anyway, Mrs. Johnson. See you later sis," Mone replied as she grabbed her bag and left me alone to admire her work.
