Mother?
What is she doing here I thought she wasn't leaving Europe for another week.
Don't get me wrong I love my mom and I'm glad she's back, just not now. I wanted things here in New York to die down before she came home.
"Mommy what are you doing home so early?" I ask just as she walks in through the doors.
"I wanted to come home early plus your sister is coming in from California tomorrow. So I can't have her coming home to an almost empty house." She says hugging me tightly. As someone brings in her suitcases and takes them upstairs we make our way to the kitchen. "Why are you still in your uniform?"
I look down at my clothes it's been twenty minutes since Alex dropped me off and by the time it took for me to get my emotions in check my mom's car was pulling up in front of the townhouse.
"Oh, I huh just got home." I answer truthfully.
My mom gives me a knowing look in eyes as she grabs a cup of tea that I made just before she came. "You were with the Dalloway boy, am I right?"
I nod slowly as I start drinking from my cup.
"What's the truth about you two. You know I don't believe the tabloids."
"There's nothing really. We just met at Anastasia's party and we hung out twice after."
"Huh, okay well be careful with the choices you make about your relationship,or whatever you kids have, okay?"
"Okay mom." I kiss her cheek and grabbing an apple from the basket on the counter, I bite into it and jog towards the stairs that leads to my room.
"Evangelina!" She calls me by my government name.
Evangelina is a mouthful so people don't know that's my full name. I just get called by Evangeline or Evie but more Evie cause that's what I prefer to be called by people.
"Yes?" I ask just as my foot touch the first step.
"Call Noah I want him to come home as well. I want the family together and maybe you can invite your friend Alex over for dinner."
No. Big no.
You see my mom doesn't know the history between Noah and Alex, if she did it would break her heart knowing her only boy went through what he went through. Also, because she's not around as much she doesn't know the distance that's been put between my dad and Noah. She only knows the surface of things.
"Alex is pretty busy so I don't think he'll make it plus we don't even know each other that well. Noah I'll try and talk to." I answer before running up the stairs to my bedroom.
Locking my door I walk into closet before sitting on a love sea in there and using my cell for a phone call.
"You still haven't given me an explanation." Was the first thing that comes from my brothers mouth.
I hold the phone away from my face before whispering a string of colorful vocabulary to myself.
"I know and I will but only if you do me a favor." I say after I bring the phone back to my ear.
"What is it?"
"You have to come home tomorrow." I quickly blurt out.
