Don't be nervous.I try calming myself down as the time moves closer to six. I'm all done with my hair and makeup as Kara pick out something for me to wear from white garment bags and racks. The make up artist is fixing my face and looking at her work but my hair stylist is looking at her impatiently waiting so she can take out the pins that's been holding my hair away from my face.
"Monica, I'm fine can you please make room for Alice." It wasn't a question really, just a statement.
"But-"
"Ladies we only have twenty minutes before Alex gets here and she still needs to get dressed so Monica move out the way completely, Alice hurry the hell up and make your touches so we don't keep him waiting."
He waited.
Five minutes before six but I did say that he'd be here around six. I still wasn't don't I mean it isn't along time but still.
Melinda and my parents left in a second car around five. Mom wanted to get there extra early to make sure everything goes as planned especially since now we have a guest.
My dress is white which sort of gives the illusion of innocence. It's fits perfectly to my body which I'm sure is because of it was tailored. My heels are strappy and I think they're Givenchy.
One of my favorites.
My hair is straightened completely which hits a littles past my shoulders and is a blunt chop.
I like having short hair. It's fun to play with and seems very edgy.
My makeup is natural they way I like it and somehow brings out my green eyes. I don't like wearing makeup but when I do it's very natural looking.
My hands are somehow starting to feel clammy and I realize it's because of nervousness.
Why am I nervous?
Maybe it's the fact that my brother Noah is very expectedly unexpected and has unresolved anger with my father. Or maybe it's the fact I'm bringing the guy who made his life shit in high school to dinner.
I still haven't explained.
Or maybe it's the fact that all this my unravel in front of Alex who I'm not sure if I trust just yet.
I say my goodbyes to Kara along with Monica and Alice then make my way downstairs to Alex smoking a cigarette who is waiting five feet away from my maid Lana who is glaring at his actions then turns with a smile a she sees me.
He doesn't say anything.
He doesn't compliment how I look or my dress. He just looks at me boringly before smiling politely.
Maybe he's just tired.
Maybe I just don't look good enough.
I push the thought away from my conscious and walk up to him. He hands Lana to cigarette to dispose of it and I give her a reassuring look.
