I never asked to be like this. I didn't ask to be an all powerful cosmic being who could decide the fate of the word. I wasn't cursed. I'm not one of those mutants like the X-men. I was born with this. And to be honest I'm not sure if I'm an alien or not.
REALLY! Who gives a week old baby the power of cosmic! It's not alright. But somehow my parents made it work. They taught me. They taught me to control my powers. They made it so I would never hurt anybody. So that I wouldn't lose control unless I was in a near death situation.
But as of now they would be ashamed. My parents loved me. They taught me to be honest and true. I am no longer either of those things.
I'm a lier and a stealer.
I steal to survive. And I lie to survive. The only thing that keeps me going is RFS.
Run. Fight. Survive.
Run. Fight. Survive.
Those three words are all that keep me going as I ran through a dark ally in Hell's Kitchen. No Daredevil was going to save me. No hero was going to save me.
I looked over my shoulder to see 3 men following me. The 3 men from which I had tricked and stolen money from.
Shit I thought but that changed into a Yes as I saw a wooden fence up in front creating a dead end. But not for me.
I dug deep into myself trying to let my power come alive. The power of Cosmic Manipulation. I focus in on my telekinesis which I hadn't used in a year. I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes as I neared the fence. Then I jumped.
I planted my hand onto the top of the fence and swung my feet over, landing on the other side into a crowded street. I opened my eyes and looked around before I bolted running through the crowd. Never looking back. I made my way to an abandoned apartment building that had become my home in the past few years.
I pulled my keys out of my pocket as soon as I reached the 4th level apartment and shoved the key into the lock. Since it was old and crappy I had to jiggle and shake the lock in order for it to open. I put my weight on the door and shoved it open after getting the lock undone.
I walked into the practically empty apartment and collapsed onto the old leather couch that was starting to fall apart from age.
This was my life. Run. Fight. Survive.
I sighed and dug the money I had just earned out of my pocket. 50 bucks. That would be enough for me to survive for a week. If I didn't just buy McDonalds.
I looked around. This was my life. My sad pathetic life.
I lived off stolen money and goods. I wasn't good like my parents had taught me to be.
I was interrupted from my thoughts by a hard and violent series of knocks onto my door.
"ALEXIS! Open is door!" a voice screamed from the other side.
I quickly recognized the voice. It was Simon.
I walked over to the door and opened it to reveal a blond haired and blue eyed 17 year old. He stomped into the apartment and I closed the door behind him.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Do you know what you've done!? Alex! Kingpin is after you, and you trick and steal from his goons. The only reason I'm working for the man is so that I can protect you!" Simon exclaimed.
"So? It's not like he can hurt me," I replied in a stiff voice.
"Maybe he can't but he's made a deal with Hydra," Simon stated.
I froze and tensed up automatically.
Hydra.... I hated those Snakes. They took my parents. They destroyed my life.
Only Simon knew of my past and my powers. And I knew of his.
Simon was a 17 year old illusionist. He could look like anybody he wanted to. He didn't even have to know who it was. He would just see the person in another's mind and then look like that person to them.
"Hydra?" I gulped.
Simon nodded, worry clearing showing in his eyes.
"Why? How?" I stuttered.
"Kingpin got an alert that they're on the hunt for you... and since you've been hurting his business he wants to be the one to turn you in and... take the reward they're offering," Simon explained.
I nodded in understanding.
"Alright... so what should I do?" I asked him.
"I don't know Lex," he spoke.
My name is Alexis Autumn Columbo... and I'm a Hydra runaway.
