First Person pov, Alexis

"Remind me again why we're not inside the building," I asked looking over at Carol. She grinned and looked up at the clear blue sky.

"We've only ever flown indoors, with a roof. Gotta test your altitude limit at some point," she responded before looking at me, "You ready to go?" she had already lifted herself off the ground, floating about a foot above.

I nodded and bit my lip as I joined her. I had mastered flying indoors, doing with ease but outside was different. There were multiple sounds that could distract me, along with other things like, planes, wind, or even attacks on New York City. They happen more than one might think.

She led me up into the air, so high up that in the distance, I could see New York skyscrapers. I smiled at the sight, following her towards the towering buildings that made up downtown.

"So what are we gonna do?! I thought... that..." I asked. I was somewhat panting due to the thin air. "We were gonna keep... going. up!"

"Alexis. You're already panting, we can't just go straight up! You may be able to breathe in space but that doesn't mean we should start there. When climbers climb Mt. Everest they go up then back down multiple times to help them adjust to the thinner air," Carol explained to me slowing down and looking back at me as she stopped.

I stopped next to her trying to catch my breath which wasn't that simple.

"So. What are we gonna do then?" I questioned.

"Patrol," she grinned, "If you're gonna be an Avenger one day then you have to learn to patrol," she explained, "The avengers have a rotation schedule. Sometimes you'll get monitor duty, or like today, you'll be given a chunk of the city you protect and go from there. We have Avengers stations all around the country and globe. But today we're going to take the upper east side."

I nodded and followed her as we flew through the air. Then I heard it the crackling through Carol's com.

"Captain Marvel, there's an attack going on outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art," the voice crackled.

Carol put a hand to her ear as she turned us towards the museum.

"Already on it," she responded, "What should we expect Fighter?"

"A devil or demon or something according to the reports," the Woman named Fighter responded through the com, "Cap do you realize how lucky you are?! You get to fight a freaken demon while I'm stuck on monitor duty for the next 2 months! I want to punch and stab something!"

Carol let out a light chuckled, "You know James will have me killed if you or the little ones get hurt because of me satisfying your craving to fight," she responded as we came closer to the museum.

"Don't care!" came the reply.

"Goodbye Taylor," Carol chuckled into the com before signing off. I looked at her confused at the name and she quickly noticed. "That was Fighter, though she use to go by Arma. Solider's her husband and she's pregnant and stuck on monitor duty cause she's pregnant with twins. She's a pain in the butt like her father was." she explained.

"Was? And who's her father?" I questioned still somewhat confused due to her last statement.

"Tony Stark, he died a year ago, his arch reactor malfunctioned and he died because of it. Taylor was devastated, she had been herself till she found out she was pregnant since then she's been a lot happier. Though she has this major concern that her arc reactor is going to malfunction also," Carol explained as we came up to the scene, "Now remember you got this."

What happened next the others would never believe.

When we got to the scene there were already 3 people battling a demon 3x their size.

"Who the hell are they?" I exclaimed at the sight. Two of the people, a man and a woman around 26 were working together in sync, reminding me of how it was when Fighter and Soldier fought together when I watched them on TV. They even had the same moves as my two favorite heroes. The woman was shooting blasts of fire at the demon while the man sent spears of ice. The last person, what looked to be a 16-year-old girl was sending bolts of what appeared to be metal at the demon.

"Not a clue but it looks like they're on our side," Carol responded before rocketing down towards the scene. I let out a frustrated huff before following.

Carol went flying in first, hitting the demon with a bolt of energy in the back of the head. I followed suit, firing a cosmic blast. Within seconds the being was down.

Carol and I landed, her first then I. She was grinning at me, her helmet still up.

"And that's why we patrol," she grinned as her helmet retreated, disappearing into the back of her suit, her hair falling down to her shoulders. She then turned to look at the 3 others who had helped us to bring the being down.

I now had a better look at the three. The woman and man were dressed in similar style costumes, all black jumpsuits that only had two differences. The first one was once up to their shoulders the color of the cloth changed from the night black. For the woman she had a blood red cloth that covered the bottom half of her face, reminding me of how the hero Electra wore hers. For the man, his was worn in the same fashion, but his cloth color was a blue that reminded me of the ocean. The second difference between their costumes was the stitching color, the woman's was a white while the man's was a hunter green. The women had fiery red hair that was almost similar to the Black Widow while the man had brownish black hair with blond to blue tips. Both had blue eyes.

I now looked at the girl quickly noticing her darker skin, her brown hair was frizzy and curly, all braided into tiny pieces and pulled back into a low ponytail. She wore a jumpsuit like the others but instead of being black, hers was a silver gray color with black and white stitching.

As soon as her eyes landed on me her eyes narrowed turning into thin slits.

"You!" she hissed pointing at me in anger, "You killed him!" Then she rushed forward at me, before I toppled to the ground under her weight.
