Alexis's POV.
"I hate training!!!!" Chey whined as she collapsed back onto the couch.
It had been two weeks since I had started training with Captain Marvel and since then I had learned not only to fly without thinking about it but also use my energy powers and absorb energy.
"It's not that bad!" I responded.
"Oh no. It is! The only reason you're not complaining is because you got the easiest and best instructor!" Chey snapped back.
"Hey! That's not true!" I fumed.
"Sorry Ali, but she's sort of right... all of our mentors push us to the limit... but the captain? She doesn't push you at all, she babies you a little," Simon explained, his head down towards the ground.
I looked over at Simon in shock that he had said that.
"She doesn't," I stuttered trying to think of one time she actually pushed me hard, just to draw a blank. "Alright fine! You guys are right!" I exclaimed before marching in frustration out of the room.
I head towards the lobby of the building, not even knowing why.
I turned to round the cornor just to run into a someone. I stumbled backwards before catching myself and looking up to see Nick Fury and the person I had just ran into, a girl with brown hair that was styled into a pixie cut.
"Ms. Columbo," Fury stated.
"Fury," I replied back nodding once quickly.
"This is Ms. Nathan-Coulson," Fury introduced the girl to me.
"Danielle, but everyone calls me Dani," the girl stated smiling.
"Alexis," I responded.
"Ms. Nathan will be joining the NAs," Fury stated.
"Really? Who will she be training under?" I asked.
"Coulson," he replied.
I nodded in understanding, "Good choice... Now I'd love to talk more but I've got to find my own mentor!" I responded before starting to sprint off, "Nice meeting you Dan!"
"DANI!" was the last thing I heard from the girl before I got out of hearing distance.
I paid no attention to the name and made my way through the lobby, managing to spot my mentor heading towards the weight room.
I ran through the crowd weaving through the hord of people before finally making it to the weight room.
I opened the door to see that it was completely empty except for Cap, who was already punching a steel enforced bag.
"Um... Captain Danvers?" I stammered quickly.
She stopped mid punch and turned to look at me.
"I told you before. Call me Cap or Carol, one of the two, I may be a captain and training you but we're not in the military here," she remarked as she retightened the wraps on her hands, "How can I help you?"
"I was wondering...." I started, "Why don't you train me in the fashion the other mentors train the other NAs?"
"Because your power level is different of course. I can't train you to us ice powers like Amaka and Elizabeth," Carol replied before turning back towards the punching bag.
"No I don't mean like that... the other mentors push the NAs more... they're more aggressive, every day after training they come back to the compound sweating and beat... while I'm not even in need of a shower."
Carol froze and turned back to look at me and sighed before answering.
"I know your history. Your parents adopted you when you were less then a month old, and you watched them die Alexis," Cap started. I tensed at the mentioning that I was adopted, I hated that fact. Also the watching them die fact.
She continued.
"You watched them die and have been running from Hydra your whole life. Before we started training you kept your powers contained... now we're letting them out into the open. If I push you to hard, or overwhelm you, your powers could wipe out this entire base.
"You've been pushing yourself all your life Alex. You don't need anymore pushing. You need compassion, you need friends and a family. You need love in a sense. The other kids... they have families, and lives, you didn't. You had the street, but you survived. The reason you don't sweat is because you've worked harder. Your body is use to everything being harder because it had to be in order for you to survive. It's natural order.
"I'm taking a different approch then the others because you're different then the other J.As," she finished.

Third Person's POV (Location Unknown, Time unknown)
"I still hate time travel," the girl grumbled as she trekked her way through the sewer water.
"We both do," came the reply from her brother, "Now keep moving... if we don't then we're both alligator food!"
"I don't think they have alligators in the sewers in this time period," remarked another voice.
"Oh shut up Scar," the girl hissed.
"I told you not to call me that! You know I hate that nickname! I'm not an evil lion from a parody of Hamlet!" the girl nicknamed Scar hissed.
"I still can't believe you know what Hamlet is. I don't even know what Hamlet is Scarlet," the boy responded.
"Uncultured swines," Scarlet mumbled under her breath.
"Heard that!" the two siblings shouted.
"You were meant to!"
