Alexis's POV

"You're my mom!?!" I exclaimed in shock.

"I am," she answered, her face blank. She held a stuffed rabbit in her hands and was staring down at it. The bunny wasn't the cutest thing ever but it was somewhat adorable.

I wasn't sure how to react. Because of her Hydra was after me, I got my powers from her and her dead husband, they were to blame. I was filled with anger, I wanted to punch the wall, add another hole to the already damaged fixture. Then I looked over at her. She looked to be contemplating everything to. Almost as if she was regretting that she'd told me I was her daughter.

"Why now?" I asked. I didn't mean to ask... it had just slipped out.

At my question, she looked up at me. I had her eyes.

"Because you need someone to blame. And if anyone is to blame.... it's me. I was selfish giving you up for adoption. I told myself you'd be safer with other people, people who weren't superheroes or SHIELD agents. You wouldn't be targeted I thought. I thought I was making the right choice, that it was for the better of things. But when I meet you that first day in the academy I.... I knew I was wrong. You reminded me too much of Marv'vel, and I let that control my actions. I didn't want any reminder of Marv'vel..." she explained to me. She looked back down at the rabbit.

I didn't know what to say at that. She'd done what she thought was right. She hadn't known that Hydra would be after me, or that I'd get the power of cosmic or be chased after by Fisk.

I walked over to her and sat down on the floor next to her, noticing how she clutched the fur of the stuffed animal tightly.

"What's with the stuffed animal?" I asked trying to break the tense atmosphere that sat between us.

She smiled slightly as if the taught of the story behind the animal was a good and sweet one.

"The moment Marv'vel found out I was pregnant.... he... Oh gosh, he flew out of the house so quick I thought I scared him off and that he didn't want a kid. Within 5 minutes he returned with the rabbit in his hands. Hell if I know why it was what he bought," she chuckled, "He wanted you to have it as the first stuffed animal you ever got, the one you became attached to. He never told me why, though."

She stroked the ear of the rabbit back with her thumb, running it over the fluffy ear. She looked over at me before moving her hand and rabbit, as if to offer the stuffed animal to me.

"It was always meant to be yours," she explained looking me in the eye, "Your father would have wanted you to have it at some point in your life. I just hope I didn't give it to you too late."

I hesitated for a second before taking it slowly from her. I was almost afraid she'd change her mind and take it back. I brought the animal into my lap and looked at it. A pair of bright blue eyes stared back at me. I stroked it muck like Carol had before and a small smile appeared on my face. Though it wasn't the cutest stuffed animal ever it was pretty soft.

"You didn't," I whispered softly. I looked up at her, not realizing the tears that brimmed my eyes. I brushed them away with the back of my right hand. "I realize that you're my mother... but...." I started. I didn't need to finish.

"I know. Your real mother was killed by Hydra and I can't replace her. I can understand that completely and I expected it.... I just want you to know I will always be on your side. I'm here for you, and not just because I owe it to you and that you're my daughter but because if I'm to be your mentor I have to trust you and your word, no one elses."

I smiled at her words looking up at her before looking down at the stuffed animals. I could see that she wanted to add something but she never got a chance. The doorbell rang loudly.

She jumped up and looked at me.

"Hide," she hissed at me.

"What?" I exclaimed, "Why?!"

"Just do it! Get in the closet and stay in there!" she ordered before running out of the room and closing the door behind her.

I looked around hesitantly before I heard the loud crash. I heard angry yelling coming from downstairs. I ran over to the closet and opened it and paused in shock. The small room was empty and appeared to be made of vibranium. Before I could get in the room the house shook and I stumbled back falling on my butt.

I heard the sound of stomping feet and angry yelling. Before I could get to my feet the door to the room burst open. My eyes widened as soldiers filled in. They had their guns pointed at my head within seconds of filing in.

"Get up," One hissed, "hands in the air," he ordered bluntly.

I hesitated.

"Now or the woman downstairs is dead," he barked. My eyes widened at this. They'd taken down Captain Marvel. I stood slowly putting my hands in the air.

A soldier stepped up very quickly and handcuffed my hands behind my back. He shoved me forward and I stumbled a little but managed to stay up. He pressed his gun to my mid back and forced me to walk out of the room and down the stairs.

I was shocked at the sight before me. Carol was slumped over and sitting on the floor. She was knocked out cold. There was a cut across her forehead and a slash across her chest. What threw me off, even more, was the person who was holding a loaded gun to my mentor's head.

He was grinning his red skin the color of the blood coming out of my biological mother's head.

"Red Skull," I hissed angerly.

"Good to see you recognize me young one," he smirked, "But then again... I didn't think you would."

I glared at him. I wanted him dead, and bad. He'd already killed one of my moms and my dad. I wasn't letting him kill another parent.

Before I could snap back at him he started barking orders in german to the soliders around us. I was dragged and pushed out of the hosue in seconds and into a white van. Then I was knocked out.
