MINETTE POV
Soon as I passed the tunnel I felt an adrenaline rushed over me. I hit the road with 188 mph thanks to my GranTurismo Maserati in less than twenty minutes I'm parking on my building.
"Good morning, Boss." My secretary greeted me from her cubicle.
Elite Highland is my Company name and the largest and popular here in Vaasa. It's my real estate business with 150 human employees I hired them so when my craving starts I'm just few feet away.
"Good morning Louise! Have all these files copy and prepare the conference room in ten minutes." I put authority on my tone.
"Yes Boss." She left after that.
Louise Stausen is my human secretary eversince I started. She has light blonde hair and green eyes and stands 190cm lastly she knows about my identity when she caught me one night.
(FLASHBACK --- one year ago)
It's been a week since I've been at my Barren and I'm starting to crave. A nonstop meeting with clients and no blood in my system can make me very furious. Since I couldn't leave the office to find any Hunters I went to the pantry when I found my target I didn't think twice. Another guards in the making I just need to mindlink Cedrik to take him after my feed.
"You will follow me to my office and never utter a single word." I compelled him.
As soon as I reached my office I bit the neck in an instant. The human smells good and the blood taste so sweet I was enjoying my feed when I heard a gasped behind me.
"Boss I'm ---" Louise stopped her words.
I let go of my victim and compelled to leave immediately with no memories of what happened after making sure there's no trace of my pangs.
"You... you--'re... a... vam--pire?" She is so faltered.
I used my fastest speed to close the door and marched towards her while she stared at me wide eye.
"I will give you two choices keep this between us and I won't kill you right this very moment or two I will compel you and lose your job Ms. Stausen. Decide now I don't have all day." I wiped the blood left on my mouth.
To be honest I can kill her and show no mercy but then I need to hire new secretary again. It will take time for them to get used around here and there's something about her that made me want to spare her life.
"Please don't kill me, I beg you. I will keep this between us and I need this job for my sister, please." She pleaded crying.
"At least you're easy to deal with now stand up before I change my mind." I demanded her.
"Thank you." She stood up and left.
Since then Louise will bring me human when I needed to feed and didn't show fear but rather amazement. She even offered her blood and her life one time but I refused since I'm only interested with the men not that kind of way but because I only need them to be my guards.
(END OF FLASHBACK)
"Boss, I already have the files copied. Is there anything else you wish for me to do before I proceed to the conference room in five?" Louise knocked.
"Actually there's something else, take a seat Lou. I'll go straight to point and I want an honest answer." I didn't use my compulsion.
"Wh--at is it?" She stuttered while fiddling her nails.
I can hear her heartbeat beating so fast that means she's nervous.
"Don't worry I'm not going to feed you so relax because you're heartbeat is distracting me." I hope that soothed her.
"Okay sorry." She finally calmed down.
"Good I want to know why you keep insisting of being like me." I put an indent to the last word.
"Because... I... uhmm... if I become one of you I can heal or turned my sister too. She has leukaemia, stage two and if that can save her then I'll do it." Her voice filled with hopes and sadness.
"Where did you hear this ridiculous story?" I knitted my eyebrows.
"I made some research about being a vampire. The popular one is eternal life with no sickness is that true?" She gave her theory.
"It's partially true we don't have sickness just blood lust. Death on the other hand happens if we're killed by silver stake or bullet." I filled her query.
"I see." She nodded in silence.
"How old is your sister?" I felt sudden compassion for her.
"She's only 16 and struggling with it." She inhaled sharply.
"Can I see her? I mean if that's okay with you." I raised my eyebrow.
"Yes of course she knows about you actually less the vampire stuff." Her voice becomes excited.
"Okay I will make a plan on that after the conference." I mentally noted.
"Now will you consider my proposal?" She initiated again.
"It's not that easy Lou you have to undergo a lot of trainings aside from that your sister needs to be 18 before she can be turned. Her body is not capable to undergo such transition." I discouraged her.
"I'm taking any risk just to help my sister she's all I have as a family. I hope you don't mind me asking do you have one I mean before you become like this?" She spoke with delicacy.
My thoughts went directly to Margo and Cedrik who's been with me.
"I guess I do anyway I'll see what I can do for your sister but no promises. We will talk about this later right now it's purely business." I gave her a bit of assurance.
"Thanks for hearing me out I'll go check if the clients arrived." She opened the door.
"I'll follow to the conference room soon." I gave a curt nod.
The meeting ended like I envisioned it I conquered another land with no complains or hard work. I'm going to build this city under my rulings very soon and no one can surpass my business. I returned to my office smiling when suddenly Cedrik interrupted my thoughts.
'My sweets! The Barren is under attack!' He linked me in.
From the sound of his voice it's not good since he only feed animals his strength are limited. He let me handle all the Barren issues and every intruder that we encounter.
'I'm coming! Hold on!' I immediately end the lnk.
How come the barriers were broken? It was strong enough to hold and kill anyone who passes by. I left Louise a note on my desk and this time I teleported to the forest.
