EPILOGUE (The Hardest Goodbye)

(... A day of Ette's Wake...)

KARLSTEN POV

Today Countess will be back to get Ette's remains yesterday I never left Ette's side neither Eloise nor Andreas. My parents including Ella and Ava came to visit my chamber later that day but I didn't speak.

"Karlsten, it's time to bring her out." Andreas knocked on my door.

"Please give me five minutes Andreas and I'll have her ready by then." I asked kindly.

"Okay." He nodded and left.

I went beside my Chosen and grabbed her hand that's when reality strikes me she is really gone. The warmth of her hands is now cold and her skin used to glow is now pale. The heartbeat that used to calm me is bringing me to madness.

"Hey Kitten, you know you're still beautiful even in your... state. Sorry I couldn't say that term how ironic I don't have a heart but I can feel the piercing pain. Remember I told you I'm not going to lose you again? Guess what? I did and failed miserably. To be honest I'm mad, furious because you kept this from me but I know you have reasons. My mind is filled with questions that I don't know what the answer is. I need you in my life and I don't know if I can do this without you Ette but I will try my best so I can give you the justice you deserve. I know this is not the end for us for our love and our story. Soon we will meet again and I promised you it will be the last time you will be gone. I love you my Kitten for eternity. Please help me make it through." I kissed her cold lips one more time.

I carried Ette's body and placed her on the casket as carefully as I could then I grabbed my coat when something falls off a white enveloped. I remember she gave me this on the way to her Barren.

Karlsten,

Remember what your Mom said to me when we met? It was my death because she can predict it. By now you already knew what happened and I know you are beyond angry because I hide it from you. Please forgive me for not telling you about the consequences of my actions. I'm sorry you I had to leave you again knowing you will be devastated as I am now. Believe me I've tried so hard to fight it but seeing you and my father dying in front of my eyes is harder. I choose this because I can't bear seeing you die.

The day in the Dungeon I envisioned about my father's death and yours when you stared at me. It was running in my thoughts for some time until we head to the Council. I want to save both of you because I know that's the right thing to do and I love you both so much.

I'm leaving you my Company in Finland for you to run while you're mission is going. Yes, I knew it because that was part of me and Countess conversation you will be meeting my secretary named Louise Stausen. I called her to inform your arrival and made her a letter. I want you to check on her sister who has Leukemia. I promised Louise to find ways to help them and I did she knows about us and I trusted her. Please don't tell her I'm gone until her sister is fully recovered.

I made the deal with Countess Belona which definitely the reason why you're reading this. I know my parents will be asking same questions so I made them a letter too I will entrust you to give it to them on the day of my wake. Thank you.

My life is now over but yours is still going so keep moving until you find serenity in my absence. I might be gone physically but my heart will never be I will miss you stranger.

I folded the letter and realized she had all my questions answered she still can read my thoughts even she's... sleeping peacefully.

"Karlsten, Countess and the rest of the Council just arrived." Eloise notified me.

"Eloise... Ette wanted me to give this to you and Andreas." I handed over the envelope.

"Thank you Karlsten." Eloise clutched it tightly in her hands.

We reached the final destination and saw everyone close to Ette gathered around waiting for her casket. Andreas went to Eloise side as I did to Briella and my parents Ava, the twins and even Morgan was there. He was being exempted from the judgement because of Margo's manipulation. His only verdict was to remain Guardian for eternity. It means even his vampire age keeps on going his rank will never change.

"Everyone please bowed to the Councils arrival." Andreas introduced as we make way for them.

"Thank you everyone. I know this is a very hard time especially for Mistress Eloise and your Master. As much as we wanted to grieve we need to be strong and face these circumstances. I may have not known Ette for long time but as the Head of our Clan I know she is a good person. She might have done mistakes in the past but Ette proved it to me that humanity exists in her well beings. No one should contest or has the right to judge her for whatever she has done. The day she arrived at the Tribunal Hall she showed courage and willingness to sacrifice her life for others that alone is enough reasons to make her a great vampire. From this day onwards I and the rest of the Councils declared her as the Empress of the Fortress." Countess announced as we applauded.

Everyone was in shocked from the declaration and I felt they were proud of Ette's sacrifices. After she gave her piece it was Eloise and Master's turn considering Ette is partly human also it was Eloise request.

"Thank you Countess for the kind words everyone please remain seated as I read my daughter's final words.

To my parents Mom and Dad,

I want to tell you I have forgiven you and I'm sorry for running away three years ago. My heart was filled with hatred and I don't deny it but I'm not proud of my action that leads where I am now. Dad, I promised Mom I will bring you home safe in her arms to prove I've changed and get her forgiveness. I love you both so much and I'm sorry for leaving you. Please continue loving each other as I have not experienced it with my Chosen.

Everyone was in tears after hearing it and soon the service ended taking Ette's remain by the Temple Guards. It's the first time everyone stayed in their places.

Tomorrow I'm going to human world and start mymission I will make sure those people taste what is like to have a Revenge With A Vampire.
