KARLSTEN POV
"No no no... Countess... why?" I whispered holding Ette's body.
"That has to be done. Take her body to the Barren and gather Andreas and Eloise I will meet you there." Countess ordered.
"Yes Countess." I nodded and once again the vortex was open.
Upon returning to the Barren everyone was in complete surprise as I carried Ette's lifeledd body. Instead of acknowledging their greetings I passed them by and directly entered my chamber. The news of her death travelled fast so by now I am expecting Ette's parents to barge in my chamber.
"Ette!! Karlsten... Andreas please tell me this isn't true." Eloise is in denial.
"I'm sorry I didn't save her." I placed Ette carefully on her death bed.
"Karl, what happened?" My father came in too with my mother.
"Leave us for a moment I was instructed by Countess Belona that only her parents are allowed to be here aside from me." I gave a dismissing tone.
After they left I started wiping the blood on Ette's face aside from her bleeding heart. No one dared to speak until I was done cleaning her even her mother dressed her properly. She is still beautiful even she is lifeless.
"WHO DID THIS KARLSTEN?! ANSWER ME THIS INSTANCE!!" Andreas is fuming.
I couldn't get the words out of my tongue until Countess appeared in my room.
"Me." Countess broke the silence.
"Why Countess? Why did you have to take my daughter's life?" Eloise is now sobbing beside Ette's body.
"This was her pledge in exchange for your husband's death Eloise. It was part our conversation when she came to the Tribunal hall." Countess speaks lowly.
"Forgive me Countess but this is not giving any sense about Ette's death at all." I interjected respectively.
"Andreas and I keep meeting three years ago to discuss this matter secretly to avoid this circumstance to happen." Countess seek Andreas confirmation.
"Countess informed me about the manhunt but not because of the crimes. It's because she's the only one that can stop her transformation." Andreas nodded.
"When Andreas laid the evidences to me I'm convinced that we will succeed to solve it three years ago. Hence, I believe there was someone behind Margo, Cedrik and even the Hunters are just accessories." Countess gave out her thoughts.
"Why didn't you inform me about it?" My tone becomes upset.
"It was all part of our plan Andreas and Eloise knew it I strictly told them no one should know even you because of your prior involvement with Margo." Countess emphasized the last three words.
"But ETTE IS MY CHOSEN!! MARGO WAS JUST A PART OF MY PAST AND I'M NOT PROUD OF IT!!" I screamed with all my might.
"ELDER. I don't like that tone of yours if I where you I'll watch it and don't forget who I am." Countess gave me a warning.
As much as I want to disrespect her she's right but I can't just sit here and do nothing.
"Countess, please continue why my daughter is suddenly on this situation aside from her transformation." Eloise diverted the conversation.
"Going back Ette made this deal with me alone I gave her all the details about my conversation with her father and all my suspicions. We came to terms I will take her life ONLY if she unleashed her dark side." Countess looked at Ette.
"How is it even possible for her to agree with it if she didn't know what will happen to her father?" I am very confused.
"That is where you are wrong Karlsten have you forgotten she extracted his power?" Countess reminded me.
I recalled the day at the Dungeon that's why she's been silent during the car ride. She was able to travel back in time and saw what will happen to her father. I hugged Ette's cold body as tears flowing in my eyes.
"Countess who is behind this chaos do you have any lead?" Eloise became stiff.
"Not yet that's why I need you Karlsten to do it Andreas can't do this alone and you need to help him." Countess recommended.
"Ette is no longer here I will get weak soon and I won't have my abilities. Forgive me if I can't do it Countess." My voice becomes gloomy.
"Karlsten, I know this is hard to take in but you need to pull yourself together. Only you have the capabilities to do this mission do it not just for Ette but for the entire Clan." Countess moved towards me.
"Why me? You didn't trust me enough to tell everything back then how can you be precise that I'm still interested to do anything?" I countered still not taking up the proposal.
"I see how much you changed and love Ette that is the biggest motivation for you. It is actually more than enough for you to agree with this." Countess stated accurately.
She is right I'm willing to do anything for Ette even if I have to live my life without her then so be it.
"What exactly I have to do Countess?" I spoke after a minute.
"I want you to get to the bottom of this and present the culprit to me in a month. For the time being I'm transferring Ette's abilities to you aside from your own we don't know what this culprit is capable of doing so it's best plan we got. I will be sending you to the human world and you're not allowed to come near the Barren. You will only contact me or Andreas and nobody else is this all clear Elder?" Countess instructed with authority.
"Yes Countess but how can I contact you or Andreas if I have to be in the human world?" I creased my eyebrows.
"Through Ette's telepathy it will lead you directly to our minds just focus." Countess further noted.
"When do I Ieave?" I agreed with determination.
"A day after Ette's wake I will take her remains to be lay in the Empires Chamber where the great vampires rest." Countess informed us.
Great Vampires are those who attained higher degree of service in the Clan. They are known for their noble act and of course possessed great powers and leadership.
"Thank you Countess Belona." Andreas and Eloise bowed.
"Ette deserves that I need to go now and give you time to bid goodbye to Ette. The Councils are waiting me for the prisoner's judgement I'll be back tomorrow together with the Councils." She opened the vortex again.
"Elder, don't fail us and most especially not Ette we are counting on you." Countess last words before she disappeared.
Countess is right but my only desire is Ette's and I'll make sure this culprit will be caught.
