(A/N: Hey guys! How are all of you doing? I got inspiration today to write this one-shot so here it goes!

I do not own Rick Riordan's characters. This is set after the Heroes of Olympus series.)

I bit my nails as my foot wouldn't stop bouncing up and down. I was nervous. Annabeth hadn't returned from the Big House yet and I was freaking out.

What time is it? She should be here already! Was Annabeth being forced to do this mission? Did she leave already?

Just as I was just about to get up, the door opened. Annabeth entered my room and sat down next to me. She didn't start talking about her assignment, which normally meant that the assignment was awful. She just sat there, staring at her hands.

"Annabeth?" I asked.

No response.

"Annabeth?" I asked again. "Annabeth, what happened?"

She didn't respond immediately. "Chiron sent me on a mission. There's a demigod kid that's twelve years old and is in great danger."

"And that means...?"

"She's a child of Demeter, one of the most powerful children I've seen in a long time."

There was something Annabeth wasn't telling me. She seemed to be holding something back from me. Some type of information crucial to the mission.

"...is there something you're not telling me?" I asked her.

"Percy, you have to promise not to get mad. You have to promise."

"I promise." I responded immediately.

"Do you mean it?"

"I do."

Annabeth sighed and gathered her wits. "She lives in the countryside of Maine. And Maine has a lot of dangerous creatures. Demeter's kid is attracting some of the most powerful enemies I've seen in a long time."

"What type of dangerous creatures?"

"Do you promise you won't get mad?"

"I promise."

Annabeth sighed once more. "There were multiple sightings of the Minotaur and empousai."

"Is there someone going with you?"

"No, I'm going alone."

No, I'm going alone. No, I'm going alone. No, I'm going alone. The shock made her words echo in my mind. As soon as the words registered in my mind, anger boiled in the pit of my stomach.

"YOU'RE GOING ALONE?!" I almost screamed. I felt the blood rush to my face and I felt the burn of the redness on my cheeks and neck. My hands closed into fists. They were still trembling. I stood up.

"You promised not to get mad!" Ananabeth exclaimed, also standing up.

"It's not safe! The Minotaur and empousai! We barely survived our two encounters with that stupid bull! And don't get me started on the empousai!"

"I'm perfectly capable of protecting myself!"

Wow, she's beautiful when she's angry. Her hair frizzes a bit and the redness in her cheeks are enough to satisfy me for years. a tiny voice in the back of my head said. I didn't listen to it.

"You're not going! Not without me!"

"I can do this by myself!"

"I know you can!"
