Percy and Annabeth returned from yet another exhausting and education filled day at college in Camp Jupiter.
Annabeth flopped down on their couch and Percy followed her. They sat there for a few moments, resting and trying to fight the sleep that was going to win over their exhausted bodies at any moment.
"Percy?" Annabeth asked.
"Yeah?" He asked her back.
"I was wondering....well....."
"Yes?"
"I was wondering when you first fell in love with me."
These words stunned Percy.
When did he first fall in love with her?
That was a good question.
"That is a good question, Annabeth." Percy said. That was a good way to start it off.
Annabeth waited for him to complete his answer and thought.
"Well, I don't know exactly when I started loving you, but I do know when I starting feeling something towards you during winter break when we were thirteen."
"Do tell."
"Remember our dance together?"
Annabeth snorted. "Of course I do. Gods, that was kind of embarrassing."
"Well, I was trying really hard not to blush during that dance. And when-" Percy's mind flashed images of Annabeth falling off the cliff outside the boarding school where they first found Bianca and Nico di Angelo. "-when you fell off the cliff and disappeared, I was worried and anxious. I could never get my mind off of you. Not when I was in danger, not when I was sleeping. Never."
Annabeth stared at him. Percy couldn't tell what she was feeling but he continued.
"I was visited by Aphrodite while you were missing. She told me that she would make my love life very interesting. And when you were offered the chance of being immortal and to be one of Artemis's Hunters, I was scared that you would leave me and I guess-well, now that I think about it, I guess that's where I started loving you." Percy confessed. "And then you just had to get prettier the summer after that!" He added.
Annabeth looked at him. "Wow. I did not know that."
"Your turn to spill." Percy said with a smirk. Annabeth blushed a little.
When did she begin to love her Seaweed Brain?
She racked her brain for answers and then when she found them, she began her confession.
"Well, when I first started loving you had to be in the summer of the Battle of the Labrinyth."
Annabeth looked at Percy and Percy nodded for her to continue.
"I guess I realized that I was feeling weird things toward you when Rachel showed up. I was-I was jealous of Rachel."
"OOOOOH! The truth comes out!" Percy exclaimed.
"Hey! I didn't interrupt for you!" Annabeth snapped. Percy flashed his girlfriend a sheepish smile and fell quiet; then Annabeth resumed her confession.
"You were paying so much attention to her and you were acting so nice to her. I felt like you had forgotten about me. So, being the girl I am, I acted jealous and skeptical whenever she was around. And then I gave you that kiss in Mount St. Helens....." Annabeth remembered that day as if it were yesterday. "I don't know what made me do it. I just went for it, without calculating or weighing the pros and cons. After that kiss, I realized that I felt more than friendship towards you. That's when I first started to love you."
Percy stared at his girlfriend. She, in all her beauty, just seemed to become prettier. Annabeth noticed that Percy was staring at her.
"What?" She asked.
"Oh, nothing." He replied.
"There has to be something! You were staring at me."
"Would you believe me if I said that there was a bug flying over your head?" Percy asked her.
"No, I would have heard or seen it by now."
"Would you believe me if I was trying to see if I could tickle you?"
"No, and don't you dare think of tickling me!"
"Would you believe me if I said I thought you were beautiful?"
Annabeth's cheeks flushed. "Maybe..."
"Good." Percy said. He leaned over to her and captured her lips in a fluttery kiss.
Annabeth's stomach flipped an her heart fluttered. She would never get used to Percy kissing her, even though he'd kissed her a million times.
Percy pulled away, but not so far that he couldn't play with her bouncy hair. Soon, Annabeth was leaning against Percy's chest and Percy was fiddling with the ends of her golden hair. They sat in comfortable silence.
And the couple sat like that for the longest time. They only moved when they were both extremely hungry for dinner.
