(A/N: Hey guys! So, today is Rick Riordan's birthday...and I decided to publish a Percabeth story in honor of that! How nice of me, I know. My best friends at school gave me an idea for what to do for my next fluff story. A special shout-out to them: I love you guys! Thanks for the idea!!!

Besides that, you guys know the deal. I don't own Rick Riordan's characters or stories. By the way, this story does have some action, but I really don't know how well I am at action...so yeah, enjoy!)

I ran through the woods in a dead sprint while carrying Annabeth piggyback style. We were in the woods at night, and who's idea was it? Mine, of course. And now, we're in this mess.

Good going, Percy!

The underbrush shook as we passed it. As we stomped through the woods, I heard an eerie howl.

I swore out loud and Annabeth cursed under her breath. Something attacked us, well not us, more like Annabeth. It was hiding in the woods and it pounced. I was able to hold it at bay for a little.

"That's the monster," Annabeth whispered in my ear, "we have to hurry. Let me switch positions."

"No!" I exclaimed. I had to hoist her up again. I was running out of breath. Annabeth's added weight and the distance I've run was taking a toll on my muscles. The sprained ankle my girlfriend is sporting is a reason I'm carrying her like a father would with his daughter. Annabeth also had a huge gash running from her forehead to her eyebrow. The blood was flowing steadily, but I could still feel Annabeth's heart beating against my back. That's how I would know if I lost her or not.

"We're wasting time," I told her between big breaths, "we need to get out of here somehow. Maybe there's some type of safe haven or something."

"Maybe," she said lazily. I was losing her. I take a deep breath and I continue my noisy trek back to my car, where some nectar and ambrosia were.

After five minutes, I find myself lost in the woods.

How could I have gotten lost? I could have sworn that the path to my car was to the right...or was it to the left? Ugh! I don't have time for contemplating. I have to choose one direction, but which one?

"To the right..." Annabeth stated.I followed her directions. I saw the huge rock that reminded me of a king's throne.

Yes, that's the way!

With renewed vigor, I sprinted through the woods. I ignored my screaming muscles and my aching feet. I ignored the added weight of my girlfriend. I sprinted so fast and with such determination that I didn't realize I tripped over an uprooted tree root until I let go of Annabeth and tumbled toward the ground palms facing out. My palms broke my fall but not the tumble. I rolled three or four times before I came to a stop, my limbs sprawled everywhere. I laid there for a few seconds, taking deep breaths. I got up to my feet. I heard the shriek of the monster not too far away.
