Chapter 6; Edward.
"Nice to meet you, Ms. Waltz. I'm surprised you're keeping up with this gal right here." He said, as he pulled his hand away, she laughed and shrugged.
I chuckled, as I turned to face her. "Don't listen to him." I said, making her smile. I faced Brian once again, and grinned. "Let's get this presentation started."
Once we were done, it was past 5:30. I didn't think it would take so long in there. I was tired and starving. We walked back out to the car.
"You can drop me off at the office, I can get a cab from there." Isabella said, I shrugged shaking my head. I wasn't gonna let her go in a cab, not after I made her sit through lunch.
"Nonsense. We can drop you off at home." I said, she started protesting but I held up my finger. "And I will buy you dinner since I kept you from lunch."
"No, you don't have to. Dropping me off at home is enough." She said, she sighed as she smiled and shook her head. I wasn't gonna let her say no to me to buy her dinner.
"Don't worry about it, I kind of feel guilty that I kept you from lunch, so I owe you." I said, I looked at her and she had an expression I couldn't read. Maybe she was deciding whether she wanted to have dinner with me or not. After a few seconds she sighed again and nodded. I knew she would give in.
"Only because I'm starving." She said, I laughed slightly and chuckled. I told the driver to take us to a restaurant. It was a few minutes until we got there, and once we did we got out and I help Isabella out of the car.
"Thank you." She said, holding onto my hand. I felt something go off when she touched me, but I quickly brushed it off. I nodded, pulling my hand away. We walked into the restaurant and asked for a table for two.
A few minutes later, we were being lead to a small booth in the back of the restaurant. Nice and reserved. I smiled at the girl who lead us here and have her a small wink.
"This place seems very expensive, Mr. Bass." Isabella spoke up. I could see her worried expression and she looked kind of cute.
"Please, don't call me Mr. Bass unless we're in the office. Call me Edward. And no need to worry about how expensive it is. It's my treat." I said, giving her a smile. She gave me a small smile before running her eyes through her menu. I did the same, looking to see what looked appetizing.
After a couple of minutes, I set my menu down and looked at her. "What are you going to order?"
She looked up, and shrugged. She scanned the room, and then spoke up. "I guess a sirloin steak." She said, wiping her hair out of her forehead. I nodded, as the waiter came over.
"Welcome. Would you guys like to start with a drink? Wine? Beer?" He said, Isabella looked up and nodded.
"Yes, red wine please." She said, smiling slightly. He gave her a flirty smile and I shrugged wanting to laugh cause he obviously has no chance with her. He then turned to me and gave me a dirty look, what can I say people hate me.
"And for you, sir?" He said, not giving much emotion in his voice. I tapped my fingers on my chin, and chuckled. "I'll have whiskey please." He nodded, and off he went. I turned to look at Isabella and noticed how young she truly was. She was only 19 years old. I wonder what her story is and what she is doing.
"So, were you actually born and raised in New York?" I said, making her look up. There was something in her eyes, a glint of hatred maybe but I couldn't quite tell. She stayed quiet, looking up at me. She had a very serious face until she sighed.
"Um, yeah born and raised." She said, giving me a small smile. It was cute. I nodded and the waiter came back with our drinks.
"Are you guys ready to order?" He said, turning to Isabella first. Of course. I wanted to laugh but it would seem rude, and Isabella is pretty. She's gorgeous actually.
"Yeah, may I have a sirloin steak please?" She said, looking up no emotion in her face. He nodded, turning his body to face me. "And you, sir?"
"I'll have the same." I said, smiling slightly he nodded and walked away once again.
"So, what about you? Were you born and raised in New York?" She asked, a hint of tease in her voice. I chuckled, as I took a sip of my drink.
"No. I moved from D.C to here when I was 11. I fell in love with the city, but after I graduated my parents moved back to D.C and I stayed here." She nodded, smiling listening to every word I said. "What about your family?"
She stiffened and her eyes went dark so quickly I didn't know what to say. She took a deep breath before speaking up. "My parents died in a car accident a year ago." She said.
I let out a sigh, feeling like a complete and utter asshole. "I'm sorry, I-I didn't know."
"It's not your fault." She said, looking up and giving me a bright smile while she took a sip of her drink.
