Chapter 17: Edward
It has been about three weeks since Isabella offered to help me rekindle my friendship with Brianna. The first few times I met up with both of them, it was a disaster. Brianna would not even look my way.
This was our fifth time meeting in about three weeks. Isabella worked fast. The fourth time we met, Brianna was a little less cruel with me and started to warm up to me. It took half the time of what we spent together but it happened. And I was glad. I actually wanted my sister.
After my parents had died, she's all I had left. And I was an asshole who ruined it. I blamed her for my parents death when it really wasn't her fault. She was just in the car with them.
I finished getting dressed when I got the call from Isabella saying that she was with Brianna and that we would all ride together to wherever we were going. Isabella had questioned me endlessly about what Brianna and I liked to do in our childhood. We liked going to the park, watching movies, bowling, and water parks. That was one of our favorite things in the world. I was dressed in jeans, and a polo shirt. I didn't know where we were going but I was hoping it wouldn't be too bad.
I walked out of my house and saw Isabella's car parked in front of it. She looked like she was giving Brianna a speech. I smiled a little knowing that it was to make her be nice to me. I was trying, and I was hoping that I could fix my relationship with Brianna. I would owe it all to Isabella.
She was so kind. And she drew me in more each and every day. I was still very distant after what happened. I couldn't let that come in between me and my company. It was too important to me. I did not want to lose it. But I also did not want to lose Isabella. I knew sooner or later I would be forced to choose between the two. I just hoped that it would be later rather than sooner.
Isabella's car was small. Too small to fit me in it. I was cramped. A Fiat 500 was not built for a man like me. Brianna and Isabella glanced my way and they shrugged, then burst into a fit of giggles.
"Sure, laugh. But I'm sure it would be uncomfortable for you if you were this tall." They kept giggling and I just shook my head, trying to make myself comfortable in the back seat of her car. I didn't understand why we couldn't just have my driver take us. Isabella was so stubborn sometimes it was sickening.
We ended up at a water park. A water park. I didn't have a swimsuit.
"Oh, don't you worry, I bought you a swimsuit." Isabella said as if she had read my mind. She smiled and nodded. How she know my size?
"I'm your assistant, Edward. I know a lot about you." She said, had I said that out loud? Apparently so. I nodded towards her, still being cold. Things at work were still professional and I wanted to keep it that way.
I was glad that today was Friday and after this event I would not have to see Isabella until Monday morning. It's not that I didn't want to see her, because oh boy, I did. She took my every thought and it was frustrating at times because it was hard to concentrate on work. She was in my mind 24/7 and there was nothing I could do about it.
But there was something about her. She's hiding something. I know it. Brianna knows it. Except, Brianna probably knows what the secret is. I shrugged.
The three us walked to the entrance of the park to buy our tickets. Of course, I would be the gentlemen and pay for all three of our tickets.
It was weird to think that Brianna was the same age as my assistant. That I may or may not be in love with.
Brianna interrupted my thoughts.
"Hey, Bella?" She said, her voice soft and sweet. Isabella looked up at her with an eyebrow raised.
"Hm?" She answered, she didn't even have to try to look beautiful. She already was.
"Since you didn't let me do anything for your birthday a few weeks ago, and you're helping with, well you know. Let's go out." Birthday? When was Isabella's birthday?
"Your birthday passed?" I said and glanced down at Isabella. She nodded and bit her lip. She was dressed in shorts, a cropped top and flip flops. As was Brianna.
"Mhm. The week after we came back from LA." She said. I nodded. Wow. That felt like forever ago. My thoughts drifted to the night Isabella and I shared that one night. Before I could think anymore, I shook my head and pushed those thoughts out of my head. They were not needed. Unnecessary.
"Well, we should celebrate!" Brianna said and Isabella shook her head. Brianna nodded and Isabella once again just shook her head.
"Come on, don't be such a wuss." Brianna said and I stifled a laugh. My sister could really be a pushover. She looked at me for help but I shook my head and threw my hands up in the air. She laughed and I stood there.

The day had been spent well. Brianna and I had finally come on an understanding. She was finally letting me in again. I was glad because she was the only family I had left.
It was now Sunday night. And I was on my laptop working. It was around 7 PM and I was in bed. My phone went off and I looked at the caller ID. Brianna, it read. I answered it.
"Hello? Are you okay?" I said, my voice dropping with worry. She sighed and I raised an eyebrow even though she couldn't see me.
"I'm fine, I'm calling for a reason."
"What reason?"
"Um, we're celebrating Isabella's birthday and I was wondering if you'd like to come." She said, uncertainty in her voice. She knew what happened between me and Isabella. She definitely knew.
I declined her offer. "No, Brianna, I can't. It would be completely unprofessional for me to do that. She's my secretary." I said, really I was just looking for excuses because I didn't want to be near Isabella at the moment. I just wanted to forget her.
"You two fucked. That's unprofessional." She said, I laughed and shook my head. Leave it to Brianna for the snarky comments.
"No, Brianna. Not tonight. Goodnight. Be safe and have fun." I said, she grumbled and mumbled something I could not comprehend. I shrugged and hung up the phone. I was determined to do work.
It was around 1 AM when my phone rang again. It was Brianna. I sighed an picked up the phone.
"Yes Brianna?" I said, a little irritated.
"Yeah, sorry I'm bothering you it's late and whatever but I can't find Isabella. I've been looking for her for maybe an hour and she's not answering her phone and she's drunk off her ass and I don't know what to do." She said all in one breath, and took a deep breath at the end.
"How drunk?" I said, I needed to know how drunk she was.
"Um, remember your 18th birthday party?" She said. She had to say nothing else.
"Text me the address. I'll be there soon." I said. Sighing I stood up and stretched. This was going to be a long night.
