There was nothing anyone could do to stop it. It happened and it's nobody's fault. That's what I tell myself, you didn't know, don't worry, you didn't know...

Today was dad's wedding. Adam was supposed to be 1 of the 3 groomsmen
and I was 1 of Laura's bridesmaids, using a navy blue dress, with a transparent cloth as short sleeves. Riley was the flower girl, with a super cute blue dress that reached her ankles.

"I can't breathe Parker." Laura said, in her wedding dress. She had a french braid and her makeup was perfect.

"Okay, umm... Just calm down. You're anxious. It's normal in your wedding day." I said not even sure of what I was saying.

"Parker." Sophie murmured.

"What?" I asked irritated. "What now?"

"He's not here yet." She said from the door.

"Are you freaking kidding me!?" I shouted. I took a deep breath, "How's dad?" I asked making sure Laura wasn't hearing.

"Not so good. I didn't know their friends were such dorks."

"Yeah. And Laura's friends are late. That's why Adam had to come extra early!"

"Don't worry. I'll try to take care of him. You go and calm her down please. Look at her."

"Yeah, I know." I sighed. "I'll text you when we're ready."

And with that we went our opposite ways. As I came closer to the bride, I started talking. "Okay, here's what we're going to do. You will go out, marry Alex, and you're gonna be fiiine." I said holding her by the shoulders. "He loves you, you love him, Riley and I love you both, and for the love of god woman, control yourself!"

She sighed. "Okay, I'm ready."

As walked down the aisle, I noticed something, Adam wasn't here! He was supposed to walk with me. I went to my position and watched as the other bridesmaids and groomsmen imitated my previous moves.

The garden was beautiful. Simple white chairs and a flower arc behind the 'altar'. When Lau was beside Alex, the priest started talking.

"Dearly beloved, we are..." and my cellphone rang. A picture of Adam appeared on my screen.

"Where the hell are you dude?! It started already and I needed you to calm my father down. Gladly, Sophie came early. So you better have a great excuse." I whispered.

"Parker Miller?" A female voice said.

"Yes, and this is?" I asked concerned walking away, so I didn't interrupt the ceremony.

"I'm Dr. Wallace, you're Adam's friend, right?" She asked.

"Yeah, why do you have his phone?"

"He's been in a car accident. He's being treated in Meadow Hospital, but he's very badly injured." She said. Her voice echoed in my head. I felt like a knife was dug into my stomach and twisted inside my body. My cellphone fell to the floor. I stayed there a few minutes. Then I picked it up again and hung up.  I went to my car and drove as fast as I could to the hospital. I ran to the trauma floor and looked for him.

"Charge to 100" A voice said nearby. I walked to the room the voice came from. I opened the door and found Adam, blood all over his body and clothes. His heart had stopped beating.

"Charge to 200" A man said holding the paddles. "Clear!"

Flatline.

"Charge again." I whispered.

"What?" The doctor said.

"I said charge again!" I now shouted as my voice broke. I felt a tear streaming down my face.

The doctors in the room stared at each other. The one responsible for my best friend sighed and said. "Charge to 300... Clear!"

Heart beat.

"Let's take him to the O.R right now before he crashes again. And someone please page neuro."

"What? Brain surgery?" But no one answered me. They just moved the stretcher away from me.

I sighed and opened the door as sobs came out, and my knees dropped me to the floor.

After some minutes, I got up and found my way to the waiting room and sat down looking at my hands, filling with tears.

"Did you see him?" A woman said.

I looked up to find Mrs. Smith, her voice and stare broken and miserable.

"Yeah. He's in surgery, but..." I said standing up, trying to find something to say. "He'll be fine." I gave her a small smile.

5 hours later

I was next to the coffee machine waiting. The doctor I saw before walked towards me.

"You're Parker Miller right? Adam's...friend?" He said checking on a paper.

"Yeah, um. May I ask you something?" He nodded. "Why was I called before Mrs Smith?"

"Well, we thought he told you, he has YOU as a first emergency contact."

"WHAT?! What was he thinking? I'm living in the other side of the country, and he has ME as an emergency contact?!"

"So... I'm sorry to ask, but how did you get here so fast?"

"I was at my father's wedding. I was a bridesmaid."

"And you left it in the middle for him?"

"Well yes! He's my best friend. I'd do anything for him." I said. "Anyway, you were about to tell me something. How is he?"

He smiled a pity smile. "He's made it through surgery, but in his state, we don't know when he's going to wake up."

"So he's not brain dead."

"No. But he's in a coma. So he might be like that for a long time."

"Okay." I felt tears fill in my eyes. "I'll tell his mom."

I didn't know what would happen. This was a lot to take in. But I knew I had to stay with him. So I could be there when he woke up, no matter how long it took.

As I walked away from the doctor, I saw her. A 20 year old girl. She had bright blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, and her hands were on her pregnant belly. I could notice she was worried.

A/N: so... Took too long to update. Sorry. I hope you like it and please please please... Don't kill me. I had this idea from the start. Okay, bye bye!
