"I've told you! I don't have a thing for Charlie!" I insisted to Adam.
We were currently in his room, him sitting on his bed, and I was stretched out, my legs on his lap.
"But, the way you talk about him, even I'm feeling a little attracted to this Charlie." he said joking. At this comment, I grabbed the pillow from under my head and threw it hard to Adam's head, and laughed at his not-so-good reflexes. "Hey! No violence, please."
"You're such a crazy freak, you know?"
"Since when that's a bad thing?" he asked playfully.
I chuckled at his ironic comment. He never ceased to amaze me. "Anyway, I'm just saying he's cute. That doesn't mean I'm into him!"
"Whatever you say. But be careful, you may become the student that sleeps with the young professors."
At this, I jumped, but not before he could get up from the bed. So I turned and jumped again, this time, hanging over his back. We lost balance and fell to the floor, one next to each other, bursting into laughter.
"Parker! Adam! Come down, dinner's ready!" shouted Adam's mom.
"Coming!" We both said at the same time.
Every other weekend, either he went to California or I came to New York, and we'd talk about what's happened over the week, we'd make sleepovers, or we'd take Riley to the park. Anyway, today was sleepover. As we made our way down the stairs, I smelled the home-made noodles. Mrs. Smith was THE BEST cook ever, and Riley loved the chocolate cakes she made for her birthdays. Don't get me wrong, I love to bake, but I can't control what an 8 year old likes best!
"Sit down you two. And Adam, no stealing Parker's food, understood?" She told her son as if he was still a baby. Well, maybe in the inside he was.
"Fine. But for the record, you weren't going to eat them." He reproached.
"Yes I was!" I insisted.
"Kids!" Mrs Smith shouted. "Get your asses to the chairs please." We both obeyed. "So, Parker. I heard your father's getting married to... Laura?"
"Yep. Dad's not helping her, so I'm doing my best so she doesn't stress too much." I laughed a little. "Hey, by the way, you should totally come!"
"Sure. If Adam lets me." She said staring at him with a puppy face.
"Go if you like. But no dancing." He said firmly.
"What?!" Mrs. Smith and I protested at the same time.
"C'mon Adam! I'll blindfold you so you don't see." I added.
He sighed in surrender. "Okay.""Yeah!" his mom and I shouted in victory with a high-five.
After dinner, we ran upstairs trying to beat each other, so that we could choose the movies we were going to see.
"Lord of the rings!" I shouted while running up the stairs.
"Star Wars!" He replied.
It was always like this. We both liked either movie, but I think it was about the pride of being the one to choose. We were now running in the hallway, and with a little push, he touched the doorknob first. >("Yeah! Take that Hobbit! Today is Darth Vader's night, and you're joining the Dark Side!" He said imitating Luke Skywalker's father.
"FINE. No need to gloat." I said like a child, crossing my arms over my chest, still on the floor for the push Adam gave me.
"Okay, Okay. Let's go. I'll make you popcorn". He said extending his hand.
"Yey!" I jumped.
I entered the room, looked for the DVD, placed it in the player, and waited for Adam to come to press play. 5 minutes later, he came in with a huge bowl of popcorn. We jumped on the bed and started watching Star Wars episode IV, you know the 3 older ones.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Obi Wan never told you what happened to your father" Darth Vader said, with that awful voice of his. We were in my favourite part of episode V, so I started eating more popcorn.
"He told me enough. He told me you killed him" I said in unison with Luke Skywalker.
"No Luke, I am your father." I continued now in a deeper creepier voice, imitating Darth Vader. Adam was laughing at this point. "Wait for it, wait for it." I said.
"No! No! It's not true! That's impossible!" We both said laughing our asses off. That was the best part EVER of this saga.
After finishing the movie, we made a bed next to his. I laid there, staring at the ceiling, smiling. I had a friend laying on the bed next to mine, and he was awesome. After a few minutes, he spoke.
"Parker? Are you asleep?"
"No. What's up?" I said, placing my arm
"What if something happens?"
"What do you mean?" I asked worried.
"What if... there's a job for you somewhere like, Tokyo? What would you do then? Who am I going to humiliate?" He said watching the window in his roof.
I chuckled a bit. "Are you serious? Okay. First of all, Tokyo? Really? And second of all, we're in our second year of college, you to NYU, and you're thinking of a job? Give me a break dude. I'm thinking of what to wear to a party I have on Friday, not..." But as soon as I looked at him I noticed he was serious. "Adam! I... You know I'm never going to leave you for good. And besides, I love New York, and I'm not sick. So I guess you're stuck with me for a very long time my friend." I said looking at him. We smiled and fell asleep after a few minutes.
