ADAM's POV:
The next day we had taken a plan home. I arrived home, my little boy in my arms.
"Hi Adam! Theo!" Mom hugged me running down the stairs.
"I broke up with Parker."
"What the... What are you talking about?" She asked confused. I told her everything. From Angel being arrested, having to take care of Theo alone, to realizing how messed up our lives were, to breaking up with my best friend. Probably the worst mistake I ever made, and that's saying something considering. "What were you thinking?!" She hit me on the head. "Hurting that girl! Are you kidding me?! What happened to you?! Adam Smith, you do not break up with the girl who was your best friend for 15 years! You do not do that!" I want to clarify that at this point she had taken her grandkid up to bed, and came down to yell at me after.
"I screwed up."
"You bet you did! Here's what you're going to do. I'm telling you because of the three people in this house I'm currently the relatively sane one. You are going to give her some space, because after the bomb you've just thrown on her, she will need it. After a week or so, you will go to her and fix it. Because like it or not, you two are literally meant for each other."
"But I told her we weren't." I tried explaining. "And I need her more than she needs me. This is not her problem to fix. She feels useless trying to help, but she doesn't see that she's not supposed to help."
She stayed silent, hugged me, and comforted me as if I was still a boy.
... ... ... ... ...
"You did what?!" I was laying on my bed, Ricky on the phone. "It's a joke, right? I mean, you're messing with me. RIGHT? I'm coming, and I'll get Danny."
After about half an hour, they were standing at the edge of my bed. I hadn't moved.
I stared at him. "Wha-why-whe-wha..." Danny threw a pillow to Ricky's face. He cleared his throat. "Thanks."
"Why? Like, seriously why? I don't want to sound girly and stuff, but you guys were couple goals. Honestly."
"Well, what would you do if you messed things up really bad, and Peyton or Rachel tried to fix it for you?" Silence. "And when they can't, they feel as if THEY were the ones doing something wrong, when in fact, it was you... and your ex, partially." Silence. "Yep. That's it." I took a deep breath. "And besides, I told her that we weren't meant to be together, but instead we were a dumb experiment that should have never happened. Then I walked away."
"Your head is full of shit." Danny blurt out. "There's no way you're walking away from this permanently. You know what I would have done if Rachel did something like that? I would tell her she doesn't need to fix my problems, but I would not break up with her. You don't walk away from someone like that. And you need to go there and get that damn girl back."
"She's not taking me back." I argued sitting up.
"That is not an option." He remarked.
"It was for the..."
"No I don't wanna listen to that 'I did it to protect her, it was for the best.' crap. Look if I must I'll drag you there myself. But get out of that fucking bed and save your fricking damsel in distress, or whatever you want to call it, from going crazy over what she supposedly did wrong. Because believe me, that's what she's doing."
"Besides, you look like hell." Ricky added. "And great speech Dan." He told him aside.
"Thanks. I was a little inspired. Rachel is talking on and on about a fairy-tale collection book she's reading."
