ADAM's POV:

We were walking down the campus of her college. It was the first 'college Valentine's Day' and she was alone. I wanted to ask her to be my valentine, but how? I mean, how could I without giving up the friendship we've built? Was I willing to risk losing one of my best friends, when I didn't know how she felt?

As we walked through the garden, the sun lit up her face, and her eyes were almost glowing. She looked down to her feet, brushing her hair out of her face, my grey sweatshirt too big for her tiny body. "It's the first valentine we'll spend alone. I mean, without boyfriend/girlfriend. Don't you really want to be someone's valentine?" She said hopefully.

'I want to be your valentine.' I thought. 'But I guess I'll never be more than your friend.' I smiled to myself, which she noticed.

"What you smiling about? Do I have something in my hair?" She chuckled.

'Oh crap. She noticed...say something.' "No. I was just thinking, we could be each other's valentine this year. You know. Do something fun?" I said unsure.

"Oh that would be great!" She said jumping up and down. I laughed and bent over a bit indicating her to hop on. She wrapped her arms around my neck and her legs around my stomach. "You're so sweet, you know? I bet that by the end of this year you'll have an angel of a girlfriend. Because you know what, you deserve nothing less." She reassured me with her motivating tone.

I hope that girl is you. I thought.

Now, we were eating spaghetti with meatballs at a Disney restaurant. She had a bit of sauce on her nose, and wouldn't notice, which was incredibly cute. I couldn't keep the smirk out of my mouth any longer and as soon as she noticed she looked at me serious. "You really need to stop smirking every time I have food in my face instead of telling me.

God, she knew me too well. "It's on your nose." I said touching the tip of my nose. She took a napkin and took the sauce out of her face. Then she threw it at me laughing at my horrible reflexes. I smiled, and soon, we were both laughing.

After a while, we could control ourselves and stop laughing, noticing a group of girls about our age at the table next to us were staring at us.

She continued eating, and I decided to do something I knew she'd like. I looked for the longest spaghetti I could find from the ones left, and handed one end to her. She got what I was doing, so she put the spaghetti in her mouth at the same time as I, and we began eating it, until, when I looked up, I could see the subtle lines of green her brownish-hazel eyes had. With one more, small move, I kissed Parker. She was the girl I told all my secrets to. She was funny, and every time she smiled, I wanted her to keep that look on her forever and always. The kiss was short and sweet, and when I looked up at her again, she had blushed a bit. Behind her, and old couple was looking at me smiling.

"So," she said clearing her throat. "Ice cream?"

"Do you even have to ask?"

She laughed. God, that laugh.

I paid for the food –she wanted to split it, but I refused, which the old couple out of her sight approved of giving me thumps up- and we walked towards the exit of the park eating our ice creams. I drew my hand closer to hers, and we intertwined our fingers almost automatically, as if they fit perfectly.

I looked towards Parker, seeing her eyes lighten up by the few rays of sun left, it was about 8.00pm beginning of summer. Her curly brown hair covered practically all her face. I stopped her, and with my hand pushed those chocolate curls behind her ear. She smiled, still finishing her ice cream. I took a deep breath and asked the question we were both avoiding, fearing it would ruin what we already had. I wasn't surprised that, as soon as I opened my mouth to speak, she interrupted me, knowing exactly what I was about to say.

"I am, and you're mine." She said smiling.

We walked the rest of the way to the entrance in silence, my arm around her back and her head on my shoulder. We got to the car, I got in the driver's seat. She turned on the radio and I started the car.

"This is my favourite movie song!"

"No it's not. It is your favourite song from this movie. But your favourite movie song is 'I'm a believer'. I know this because every time you listen to it, you sing even the instrumental." I said knowing my best friend's taste better than her.

"Why do you end up knowing me better than myself?" She crossed her arms over her chest.

I looked forward and held the steering wheel tight, not pressing the pedal yet. Something came over me, I don't know what. The crash started playing in my head. The blood. The glasses. The screams of that girl. The pain. Again and again. I couldn't stop it. I wanted to throw up. I wanted to scream. I wanted to cry.

"Adam." I could barely hear. Then I snapped back to reality when I realized Parker was calling my name. "ADAM!" She cried. I looked at her panting. Her wrist was trapped by something. It was my fist. I was grabbing her wrist to tight. I took my hand away from her arm.

"I'm sorry." I whispered looking down. From the corner of my eye I saw the red mark I left on her skin.

"It's nothing Adam. Don't worry." She said calmly. Although I could hear what she was saying, those crappy noises wouldn't get out of my mind. I felt a lump in my throat. Don't cry, I told myself. You're being stupid. "Adam. It's okay. You can cry if you want to."

"I can't." I struggled to say.

"Why?" She asked, her voice so understanding and sweet.

"If I let myself cry, I'm afraid I won't be able to stop." I held my head, wanting to rip my hair off.

She grabbed my hand and I finally let myself cry. She didn't say anything, just held my hand and stayed there with me, while I got that burden off of my shoulders. After I calmed a bit, I started the car again. Parker looked up at me and smiled.

"Do you want me to drive?" She asked.

"No. I want to get this fear out of me." I glanced at her, smiling back.

The ride to her place was quiet, with the exception of the radio. I was trying to breathe slowly, and worry only about finishing this date the way they're supposed to end.

When I parked the car, I told her to stay inside, while I got out, rushed to the other side and opened the door like a gentleman would. She bit her lip and blushed a bit.

"You're a true sweetheart." She said rubbing my arm. "Let's go."

We entered the empty apartment, and by empty I mean empty. The girls kept their word to get there as late as possible. It was barely 9:00 pm. She changed into her cake patterned pj's in her bedroom while I changed into a t-shirt and sweat-pants in the bathroom. We talked about a lot of things. From my first meet with Theo, to our plans for the summer, to small things like the dumb teacher we were finally getting rid of. We also played that mimic game we loved.

When we realized, it was almost 2 am. And the girls were already asleep. We decided to go to sleep as we were also really tired. As she laid her head on the pillow giving her back to me, I put my arm around her, pulling her close to me. She grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers. I heard her soft breath, and fell asleep next to my best friend, next to my girlfriend.
