It's funny how things can change from one minute to the next. Only a sentence, a word, an action, a kiss. Anything can change the way you see things, or the way people see you, or even your relationship with them.

I unlocked the door to our apartment daydreaming and probably smiling. I closed it leaning on it, dropping my bag, and murmuring 'once upon a dream' from sleeping beauty. As I walked to the living room where my friends were I bounced from side to side to the rhythm of the song in my head. They looked at me as if I were crazy. "Why are you looking at me like that?" I said, my smile never leaving my face.

Serena and Stella looked at each other and then at me. "What happened in New York?" they said at the same time. "See, I told you we should've gone." Stella added.

"There was a freakin' storm Stella. All flights were cancelled." Serena argued.

Stella shook her head and said. "Anyway, what happened over there? You're acting weird."

"What? Can't I be happy just because my best friend woke up from a coma?" I asked.

"But you're creepy happy." Serena said.

"Oh! I know! You only get like this when something happened with a guy." Stella said. They looked at each other realizing something and then started shouting and smiling.

"Okay, now you're the creepy ones."

"You finally kissed him?!!!!" They screamed at me.

"Who?" I asked in a low voice, trying to calm them down. I didn't want them to know until the others could get here. They were getting food from the store, as specifically requested from these two lazy girls I had in front of me.

They stared at me as if I was acting stupid. "Adam!"

I sighed in surrender. "Okay, don't frea-" But, of course, they couldn't let me finish a sentence before they could start screaming again like little exited kids.

"Oh my god! You did kiss him didn't you?" They said. Just then, Rachel opened the door, followed by Peyton, Bailey and Sophie, all of them with the same 'wtf?' expression on their faces.

"What's going on?" Sophie asked.

"Parker and Adam kissed!" Serena turned to face them, her eyes about to pop out.

Peyton joined Serena and Stella, jumping up and down; Rachel and Bailey hugged me and high-fived; and Sophie kneeled and, waving her hands, screamed "Finally!"

I laughed at my friend's reactions. "You want me to tell you how was it or are you just going to continue shouting."

And just like that, they all sat on the couch, squeezed together, like little kids waiting for a bed-time story.

"We were in his house, yesterday, when he was discharged from the hospital. We talked, and with everything that happened, I think we were both waiting for the right moment." I started.

"But how was the kiss itself?!" They shouted.

"It was nice." I shrugged. "He's a really good kisser. I mean, for that few seconds, I forgot where I was or what I was thinking before... it was like my mind went blank. But not the kind that you get when you're in a test. But the good kind." They all stared at me in 'Aw!'

"I can't believe how long you guys took. We were waiting for it since forever!" Bailey said.

"But don't get any hopes up okay? I don't know what it meant to him. After the kiss we just had dinner with his mom and I went home. We talked on the phone but he didn't mention anything about it so please just stay quiet until we figure it out. The last thing I want is for things to be awkward between us."

"But he loves you! He told Annabeth! Please, pretty please, date him." Peyton begged.

"The physical appearance of the please does not makes no difference!" I said smiling.

"Don't you quote 'despicable me' to me!"

Just then, my cell phone rang. I took it out of my pocket and read the name label and smiled. I turned the screen to them, and they clapped their hands. I rolled my eyes and answered the phone putting it on speaker. "Hi Adam!"

"Hi. How you doing?"

"Great. Just got home. You?"

"Good. Better." The girls sighed in 'Am' and I rolled my eyes at them. "Am I on speaker?"

"Noo." I said.

I heard his sigh. "Hey girls."

"Hi!!" They said exited at first. I gave them a death stare and they smiled, feeling guilty.

"So what you calling about?" I asked changing the subject.

"I just, we didn't have a chance to talk about the..."

"I know."

"I just, I really mea-"

"Me too."

I could almost see him rub the back of his head.

"Do you want me to-"

"Pizza and Netflix next weekend?"

"I was thinking we could make dinner."

'He wants a really sweet date' the girls whispered to me.

'Thanks for pointing that out' I mocked them.

"Sure!" I answered Adam.

"The girls going to be there?"

"N Adam! Don't worry!" Stela shouted at the phone.

"Okay." He laughed.

I took the phone off of speaker and said, "Girls, could you go do something else please?" and turned to Adam "so what have you been up to?"

"Well, today I talked to Angel."

"And?"

"Tomorrow I'll go to her place and meet Theo."

"That's great Adam!"

"Yeah but." He said insecure.

"What?" I asked concerned.

"I'm kind of freaked out."

"Why?"

"What if he doesn't like me? What if Owen doesn't like me?"

"You can't be serious. Look, you're his dad, not Owen. You've got to remember that. And besides, he's barely 10 months old. Got that?"

"Yeah." There were a few minutes of silence, but not the awkward one, just a comfortable silence. "Changing the subject, Bailey told me Serena and Stella were getting freaked out about finals."

God Yes! What's that about? They get super stressed out and I have to hide the coffee machine! Same shit happened last year! Don't tell them because we still have a week or so full of exams, but I hid it in the top counter of the kitchen." I lowered my voice.

"Isn't that a bit-"

A bit obvious place to look? No, they keep looking in my room."

"Well, look at that!" he laughed.

"Parker!!" Serena screamed desperately at me from her room.

I rolled my eyes. "Hold on a sec." I told Adam. "What?!!"

"I love that you're talking with Adam, but can we go eat? I'm starving."

"Okay. Go get the others." I said. "Sorry dwarf, I have to-"

"I heard. Talk to you tomorrow?"

"Sure! Bye!" and I hung up.

So, as I was saying, it's funny how things can change with one little thing. But well, change isn't always bad.
