"Ashleyyy!" I whisper/yell into the room with the couch, where everyone was crashed. She stands up and makes her way over to me.
"Guess what?" I ask excitedly. I swing the door open and reveal the positive pregnancy test laying on the sink.
"No way! Oh my gawd Syd this is amazing! I had no idea you two-"
"Hold on. I wanna go to the clinic tomorrow, you know, to make sure, since I only took one test."
"Yeah it makes sense. Tomorrow is our off day anyway."

"So if it's a girl it'll be Kodi?" Ashley asks.
"Mhm. And if it's a boy it's gonna be Kaanan, Luke picked that one out."
"Hmm..."
"What?"
"You guys have talked about a family before?"
"Yeah. Often actually."
"How come none of us knew about this?"
"It wasn't really suppose to be a public thing. And, plus, we kinda have to be careful about what we say around big mouth over here." I laugh, nodding my head towards Calum.
"That's the truth."
"So is it scary, you know, being a mom?"
"It depends on how you look at it. I see it as showing one more person how amazing everything is, and how to do things right. So, for me, it's not scary at all."
"But what if I teach them the wrong things? What if I don't remind them that I love them enough and they become troubled?"
"I don't think that will be a problem. The only thing you need to be worried about is if they are going to like Luke or not."
I smack her with a pillow in the face. My kids are going to love their father almost as much as I do.
"Are you ready to go? We should leave before everyone wakes up."
"We have until two o'clock then..." I laugh.
"Get up!" she laughs, grabbing my hand.
We took a rental car to the women's clinic.
Nurse Lawrence put the freezing cold gel stuff on my bare stomach and started to smear it around with the wand.
"So you took one test?" she asks, not breaking her hard gaze on the screen.
"Uh, yeah, I took one last night and it was positive." I laugh, thinking about what Luke would say if he found out we were having a boy. I was interupted by the nurse wiping the gel from my stomach.
"Babe I'm sorry to tell you this but there's no sign of life in your stomach." she sighs. I laugh lightly because of how she put it, to try to make me keep calm I guess.
"So it was a faulty test or something?"
"It's very rare but I guess so. I'm really sorry." she gives me a warm smile and a light hug and walks out.
"Well fuck I got all excited for nothing." I sigh, running my hand through my blue/blond hair as I shut the door to the rental car.
"It's okay. You can keep trying." she says, patting my shoulder. I nod lightly, trying to keep the knot in my throat from taking over.
"And by keep trying, I mean try when we get home and not while we're all living in a small space together." I laugh and quickly wipe a tear that escaped the floodgate without warning. I was to late.
