Tyler Landry woke up from one of the weirdest dreams he has ever had.
Mackenzie, his best friend, had commited suicide. And his older sister who had died in a brutal car accident had been there.
Standing in the middle of his bedroom floor.
Trying to convince him there was another dream.
"I have got to stop drinking Monster at 2am." he mumbled to himself.
And then a sick realization occured. He had to go to school.
He groaned inwardly. School wasn't all that bad, but it sure as hell wasn't all that good.
You just don't like it because it involves you using your brain. It isn't just there to fill the space, you know.
Mackenzie had said that everytime that he complained about having to get up and go.
He chuckled slightly at remembering her say that.
He got up and put on a black office shirt and dark gray skinny jeans. He was very thin so he could pull skinny jeans off better than most girls.
He poofed up his long hair and added all the chains, bracelets, and yes eyeliner.
He was something of a dramatic dresser. But, he just liked the idea of being himself. And of course that involved wearing some eyeliner. So, he did.
And he didn't care what people said because he got more pussy than all of them.
He looked at himself in the mirror, gave a nod and out he went.
Into his black 1980 Corvette. It was his kinda car what could he say?
He drove to Mackenzie's house, which was only a measly 5 miles away from where he lived. He drove down the long curvy drive and parked outside the house.
As usual, Mackenzie flew out the door, trying not to slam it on her way out. Her mom had a small 15 month old baby and got pissed whenever Mackenzie was loud or woke him up.
Tyler chuckled as he watched her fly out, her brown wavy hair flying behind her. She jumped in the passenger seat with a puff of air and laid her head back against the seat.
"Rough morning?" Tyler asked as he pulled out of her driveway.
"Ugh, don't even get me started. I didn't even eat this morning." she said with her eyes closed.
And right on cue her stomach gurgled.
"Haha, well do you got anything, because I am broke." he said.
"Yeah, I've got granola bars, want one?" she said as she ripped the wrapper off of one.
"Yeah, thanks." he said and took the one she offered.
Tyler looked out the windshield. It was raining again. As always, the skies looked almost black and everything was a bleak color of what it should be. Sheets of rain fell hard.
"Don't you love our town?" Mackenzie said with a gleeful sigh.
She was staring out the windshield as well.
"Actually yes. The weather conditions are so beautiful." Tyler said, smiling at the rain.
Mackenzie chuckled and laid against the polyester seats, sleeping quietly.
Tyler looked at her.
She's so cute. he thought as he pulled into the brick school's parking lot.
He felt bad that he had to wake her up. Because she was probably having a dream that was good.
Better than the real world.
