I lay there. I was literally paralysed with crippling terror. He was frantically searching round to catch a glimpse of me. As he realised I was nowhere to be seen, I saw the hope drain from his eyes. The man was lying on Jason's stomach, pressing his elbow across his neck as he brandished a knife in his face. Jason squirmed rapidly, trying to move his face as far from the blade as possible with little luck.
Seeing the fear in Jason’s eyes made my stomach churn. A sound slipped from his mouth. It was a slight whimper. I bit my lip to stop me yelling out to him. A lump filled my throat as I tried not to cry. My emotions were high. I stuffed the sleeves of my top into my mouth to stop the noise.
"Why'd you do it? Huh?" The man with the knife to Jason's throat yelled as he dug the blade deeper, causing blood to trickle from the wound. The liquid was thick and scarlet. It was flowing quickly. He closed his eyes slowly.
Jason shook his head, squinting at the figure standing over him. He made a pathetic attempt to push the man off him. He was clearly overpowering him but Jason kept trying to shift his weight enough to stand up.
"You killed my mate. Did you know him? Hmmm?" The man came close to Jason's face, almost screaming at him. Droplets of spit shot from his mouth. Jason looked away. "You were locked up for a reason you psycho!" His voice echoed heavily off the empty walls.
"What did you call me?" Jason was attempting to intimidate him but he sounded terrified.
"I called you a psycho! You need teaching a lesson." The guy stood up, relieving Jason. He leant down. His hand grabbed Jason's collar and lifted it slightly. "Do you agree?"
Jason glared back at him, maintaining his composure.
"I said, do you agree?" He was angry. You could see his lip twitching. I begged Jason to stop internally. The men had a knife. They could kill him in seconds, then what would I do? I'd be left here... alone to face up to what I'd done. My thoughts were disrupted as his hand thrust into Jason's stomach. Motionless.
A short, sharp scream sounded, making me jump. It was my scream.
