I didn't tell my mum about what happened in the kitchen - she asked though. If she knew, she would be happy for me... until she knew about Jason's reputation, then she'd go berserk. To be honest, I don't blame her. I still can't believe it happened myself. It won't happen again though, it CAN'T happen again.
It was the night after the Trumans's visit when my phone rang at 12:01 AM. My heart skipped a beat as I saw the caller ID. Jason. With trembling hands, I swiped the screen to accept and carefully placed the phone to my ear. "Hello?" I whispered into the speaker.
"Hey. How's it going?" A familiar voice spoke back.
I smiled inside. "It’s... erm... good.... And you?" My voice was croaky from waking up.
"It’s going good.... Look about last night. It was nice. You want to do something sometime? I mean only if you want to, not you have to. I want to... I mean, it'd be nice to....." He trailed off.
"Yes. I would." I replied. Immediately after I'd said it I regretted it. He was a bad influence and I knew that.
"7:30, tomorrow night... park?"
"Yes, that sounds nice."
I grinned as I hung up and threw the phone beside me as I flopped back onto the bed. My heart was pounding so hard, my chest began to hurt. Butterflies spiralled round in my stomach. It was so wrong but at that moment, it just felt right.
The whole of the rest of the day, I could hardly concentrate. Even though I knew Jason couldn’t possible want a serious relationship with me of all people, I still wanted to impress him. As I lay in bed, my mind kept drifting to our previous kiss. It was obviously a mistake... no that’s the wrong word. It was obviously just a heat of the moment type thing. There was no way that Jason wanted to settle down with someone, I presumed he’d want to “test the field” before finding someone to... get serious with.
I'd set my alarm clock for 10 o’clock the following morning. As the beeping woke me from my interrupted sleep, I felt an unpleasant amount of heat on my arm. I peered in the direction of the burning sensation before I realised that I’d forgotten to turn the radiators off when I’d come to bed. My arm was squeezed between my bed and the radiator which explained the sudden burst of heat that I felt.
As I made my way downstairs, I heard someone calling my name. I turned round to see mum’s hand waving out of her bedroom door. “Olivia!”
I sighed and turned back up the stairs. As I entered her bedroom, I was met with a most unpleasant sight. She was doing her morning yoga – she wanted to “get in touch with her sole” or some other complete nonsense. Her head was tucked neatly between her legs which were poised neatly in the air. I groaned as she flailed around, trying to come back down to earth. Finally, after a good few minutes of her wriggling around, her feet touched the carpet.
“I was just wondering if you had any plans for today. Maybe we could have a girly day out if you fancied it?”
“Sorry, I’ve already made arrangements to go out. Maybe another time though.” I started making my way out.
