Tears welled up in my eyes as Jason closed my fingers round the box. My vision blurred. Jason's face melted in front of my eyes. My heart beat faster. My head span.

"Olivia, Lomas.... will you..." Jason's voice cracked slightly. "Will you marry me?"

A huge smile spread across my face. Tears spilled from my eyes, dampening Jason's jumper as I clung to his chest. All his warmth cascaded into my body, his head resting on mine. I couldn't speak. I managed a vigorous nod and the words "Yes.... yes, of course I will."

"Thank you, you've made my so happy in these past few months. I know it seems a bit rushed but I know that I'm never going to find anyone as perfect as you."

It was ironic really, saying that. He never was going to find anyone as perfect as me because I knew that he was dying. He sighed. Jason curled his arms round my back and sheltered me in a cocoon as we lay in each other's company. His heart was fluttering quickly against me. It felt like we were cemented together, like no one - nothing - could come between us. We were one.

We lay there, not a word being spoken. There was nothing to say, yet there were a thousand words to say. It didn't matter though because I had Jason in my arms. I felt a smile as his lips pressed against my head. My legs went to jelly, just like the first time we met. He held it there for a few seconds. The silence made the moment feel special - like time was frozen around us.

My phone vibrated from my bloodstained pocket, drawing me out of my bubble.
