Adrenaline pumped through my head giving me a pounding sensation every time I tried to move. My whole body was paralysed with fear. The news?!?!Everybody knew what we'd done. Except nobody knew what WE'D done... "Jason! People will come looking for us now they know what we've done. Someone will have seen us... the other guards! They'll know it was us."
My chest became tight quickly. I felt my breathing speed up as I clutched my chest. I was panting, trying desperately to breath. Jason put his hand over mine, pulling them away. "Shhh, it's ok. Just take a deep breath."
I attempted to slow down my breathing. After a minute, I managed to regain my composure. "Sorry."
"Its fine babe, you don't need to apologise. It's me who should apologise. This is all my fault. You deserve someone better than me..." His voice trailed off.
"POLICE! Let us in!" A voice made my body fuse into action. "We know you're in there!"
The front door buckled dangerously under the immense pressure of the banging. Jason's set of keys jangled in the lock. A loud crash sounded as they fell seamlessly to the floor.
He leapt up. He knew we were in trouble.
My arm was grabbed by his trembling hand. Jason's face spun frantically round as he weaved through his maze of corridors. The paintings hung on the wall shook as our feet pounded down the hallways. He flung the door open, grabbing his jacket on the way out. As we sprinted out, the door behind us caved in and the sound of guns shattered the silence.
I couldn't stop to watch. I had to keep running.
