Incoming call. I pressed accept as the brightness of the screen made me squint. "Hello?"
"Hey." The voice replied.
"Jason? It's..." I held the phone so I could see the time on the screen. "TWO o'clock in the morning!" I whisper down the phone. I haven't exactly told my parents I've been seeing Jason and I don't think they'd like it so... I will tell them.... eventually.
"Sorry, I just wondered if you wanted to come over. I want to apologise for yesterday." His voice was soft and he sounded like he had just woken up.
"Sure, when? I'll have to check my calendar but it's downstairs so, I'll have to let you know tomorrow." My voice came out in what I like to think was an attractive way but to be honest I think it sounded like I had a bad case of tonsillitis. "I know I'm free tomorrow. Does that suit you?” I managed to control my voice a little more.
"Oh, actually, I wondered if you wanted to come over now. I know it's late but, you know."
"What? Are you insane!?!?!? If me parents found out, do you know what would happen to me?" I replied.
"Maybe... but it'd be fun. Come on, take a risk. If we get caught, you can blame it all on me."
“Jason, remember what we discussed yesterday.”
“This is different. I just want to make it up to you. There’s nothing wrong with that is there? It’s not like you lied to anyone or did anything illegal is it?”
“No...”
“Well then. Come on.”
I can't believe I'm about to say this. "OK, just give me ten minutes and I'll be right over."
My heart was pounding as I pulled on my black skinny jeans. I rummaged quietly in my wardrobe before pulling out one of my T-Shirts. I tugged it over my head, smoothing down my hair quickly. My hair went static very quickly. I managed to flatten it by running my fingers incessantly through it. I wanted to look like I'd actually made an effort this time so I applied a layer of lipstick and tiptoed into the bathroom. Grabbing a piece of toilet roll, I dabbed my lips on it to remove the outer coating so my lips weren't too sticky.
Each step I took down the corridor made an ominous creak. Luckily, I'd left my keys in my pocket from the night before. I pulled them out. A loud clanging noise made me freeze. I wrapped my fingers round them to stop the vibrations waking mum up. It was too dark to properly see where the key hole was. I fumbled round with them, trying desperately to fit them into it. I got more and more panicky as the keys kept jabbing the metal either side of the hole. Relief flooded through me as the key made a satisfying click as it unlocked the door.
