An open door down a lone hallway
A light gleams from within
All your dreams inside, they ask you, please, oh please, to stay
They laugh, they shout, they play about, knowing belonging is the best medicine
But you walk on
Sad and alone, not hearing the voices of praise
Soon your dreams are all gone
Your self esteem won't raise
And you're feeling the lowest of low
When a dream pops out of that small, warm room and runs to you, full of hope
You pick it up and look it over, feeling the energy flow
Touching it's wiry arms in wonder, they feel like bits of rope
Can this be a promise? A small glimmering, shimmering truth?
Are the folks of today deafened by their own youth?
If we turn that corner, look through the door 'n maybe have a glance around
Into that hopefilledpromisefilledlovefilled room
Of dreams deferred
