Chapter 52: Happy Birthday Jermaine

December 11,1994

Michael's POV 

Today is Jermaine Birthday and we are planning on celebrating it by going to the family house which is Hayvenhurst.  Mother and the staff have prepared food for the event.  I'm excited because it's been a long time since I've seen the rest of my family. I also feel as though Roberta is trying to be in competition with me about who go the best present for him.  I brought him some more albums and a new record player. I don't know what Roberta got him but I think it's a lot.  However I know that it will leave erms speechless. Because whatever she does she always leaves somebody speechless.  Lately something has been not right with her. Like sometimes she up then all of a sudden out if nowhere she is not feeling it or something I hope whatever got into this funk will go away soon.  Even better I just hope that whatever it is can calm itself for today. Now we wait for the diva of the house... Roberta 

Roberta's POV 

"Happy Birthday to my very stylish ,amazingly talented, crazy, and wonderful brother in law.  I wish you many more to come.  I hope you get everything you wish for as well. Love Roberta. "

I knew I should've did this last night but I wasn't feeling up to it and I would've been having the same problem that I'm having now... Where was going to write it.  Mike took over the whole other side of the card. I know my gift will have jerm speechless. I got him a new pic for his bass it's custom made it has silver rhinestones and the blue rhinestones form the letter J.  I got a strap that is blue and it says "JERMAINE " on it.  I found out what size he wears in shoes and got him some royal blue and gold suade shoes and I brought him a suade royal blue blazer with gold buttons.  I put his gifts in a pretty blue box and his other gifts in a gift bag with a pretty ribbon.  I put his card with a Gift Card to Macy's in the envelope I loaded everything in the car and came back to finish getting ready.  As I mentioned before I don't feel well.  Actually I haven't been feeling well for a few days but today is it.  like I haven't been eating nothing heavy but I don't have an appetite.  I just hope that I'll be able to eat at mothers.  Anyway I got decent with black pants and a black turtleneck sweater and black knee boots I flat ironed my hair a put it in a side part.  I put my gold accessories on and grabbed my purse and ran downstairs.  When I get down there my baby done fell asleep....  My sleepyhead... 

Me: baby..... Baby.... Wake up I'm ready. 

Mike: huh.... Oh... OK... Let's go 

We grabbed our coats and got into the car and made our way to Hayvenhurst. Oh boy... 

Michael's POV 

On the way there I can only think about what is going on with my baby she got all dressed up and nice looking but I know Roberta she isn't herself.  I'll find out what's the problem is later because we are here.  

Once we get inside and everyone greeted us we put erms  present where the rest of the presents and I'm talking to Randy. It's been a while since I've had a conversation with my little brother.  

Me: what's up with you Rand man?! 

Randy: nothing Bro just fatherhood. How about you and Mrs Jackson?  Have y'all been planning on giving mother some more grandchildren?  Haha 

Me: you funny but we have been super busy lately that I don't think that has crossed Roberta's mind. Although I'm pretty sure it'll be soon. 

Randy: man Mike I'm surprised because you can talk anybody into doing anything your want them to.  So how is it that she isn't pregnant yet haha I'm just asking.  

Me: boy you crazy but whenever we aren't busy or dead tired from working then something might happen but other than that I'm going to enjoy my life with my wife. 

Randy: I understand all of that haha. 

So we walked back inside where they were opening his presents.  

Jermaine : man I'm flattered.  Roberta you didn't have to do that. These shoes are the jam and it comes with a jacket I really love it.  Thank you sis.  

Roberta: aww you know that I wanted to. What are siblings for?  Right.  Enjoy your gift and Happy Birthday. 

Jermaine : Mike you got you a keeper right here. 

He got up and hugged her and she hugged him back he really love his presents. So after the presents got open and we hugged it was time to eat and everybody got their food and is now sitting at the table we are laughing and catching up when all of a sudden.. 

Roberta: excuse me, I have to use the bathroom. *gets up and runs to the bathroom *

Me: excuse me. 

I get up and run behind her... Something isn't right. And I was right my baby was holding her hair in one hand and throwing up over the toilet..  My poor baby. 

Me: baby are you alright.. *calls for mother *

Ro: ummm I think so.. *cleans her mouth* 

Mother: baby are you OK?  Here come on *helps her up*

We walk and everyone is concerned.  So we sit back down and get her something to drink but as soon as she takes a swallow of tea she runs back into the bathroom I run right behind her and hold her hair and put my hand on her forehead and call for mother one more time... She is running a fever.. 

Mother: oh my goodness.  Baby come on... *calls for Janet *

Janet: yes mother 

Mother: get my thermometer quick. 

Janet: OK. 

While we wait we sit her down in the living room while the others get rags, water, and other medical stuff to help Roberta.  I knew something was wrong with her.  I just knew it... 

Roberta's POV 

Well I'll be damn..... I'm sick I don't know how.  I haven't eaten anything that would've made me sick.  Now I'm laying on the couch with a thermometer in my mouth and a cold rag on my forehead.  

Me: I'm sorry jerm for ruining your birthday. 

Jermaine : oh sis you didn't ruin anything.  I'm sorry that your sick but as family we take care of one another.  Whatever is needed to make sure you get better we are here to get you better.  

Me: thanks... I have to go home.  

So after two hours of nursing we are now getting me in my pajamas and in bed.  I took fever medicine hopefully this works...  I just don't understand why I'm sick. 

Michael's POV 

My darling looks so sick.  She looks a bit paler than usual. Her eyes are puffy and red her face is bit swollen.  My baby I pray she gets better.  

As my job as her husband I promise to take care of her in time of sickness.  I take my vows very serious . I'm not going anywhere.  That's a promise...
