Chapter 4

We sat around the lake and waited for Louise to feel better before we headed back to camp, I tried to talk to her but she just sat there and gazed into the lake.
"We must get back before it gets dark" Max said, breaking the silence.
"Lou, come on please" I said, giving her a pull up, but she did not move, I shook my head it was no good.
"I don"t think she can move" I added.
"Come on babe" Dan added
Louise slowly got to her feet, I walked with her as she was slow and we all made our way back towards our clearing and the safety of the camp.
When we got there it was just getting dark, I took Louise into her tent and helped her lay down, put a warm blanket around her.
I think, I should stay with Lou tonight" I suggested
"Yeah good idea" Dan replied
We left her in the tent and sat round the fire, I was really worried about Lou, what had happend out there?
I had to find out, I got up and left the boys by the fire, I went into the tent where Lou was, I saw she had her eyes open.
"Lou, what happend?" I asked
"I don't really know" Louise replied, in a whisper
"Please tell me" I said, giving her a smile and holding her hand, she looked so frightend.
"Well I was swimming along quite normaly, when all of sudden I felt something grab my ankle and pull me down, I tried to kick free but the force was to strong and I went under" Louise said, bursting into tears
"Oh, babe don't cry" I said, giving her a hug.
"I almost ran out of breath"
"Ohh, hun shh it's ok, your safe now and you don't have to back to the lake it it makes you feel safer"
"I don't feel any safer here, I feel like I am being watched all the time"
"I get that feeling to, I am sure it is nothing"
"I hope you are right"
"You get some rest hun"
"I am not sure I can"
"I can get one of the boys to watch over the tent"
"Oh would you"
"Just wait here" I said, getting up, I walked out of the tent and over to the boys.
"How is she?" Dan asked
"Not good, I have told her to get some rest but I don't know if she can" I told him
"Who can blame her, but did any of us see what dragged her down?" James asked
We shook our heads, none of us had.
"Something deffinatly dragged her down though, I saw her strugle to swim. Oh and would you men mind keeping watch?" I asked
"Not a problem" Max nodded
"Why?" James asked
"Louise is still frightend" I replied
"Oh, is that all" Dan said
"I am frighted to, ever scince we arrived at this place, I have had the feeling that we are being watched so has Louise" I explained
"Don't be so silly" James said
"I am not, it is true"
"It is nothing to worry about I am sure, Kat just relax" Max added
"How can I, after what happend to Louise?" I asked.
"Don't get worked up over nothing babe" James, told me
"Nothing! How dare you say what I went through was nothing!"Louise shouted, before running off into the woods.
"Nice one James!" I said, cross with him, I ran off after Louise.
"Louise wait!" I called running to catch uo with her, I found her by a tree crying her eyes out.
"Lou, talk to me hun" I said, putting my arm around her shoulders.
"They don't believe me" Louise sobbed
"I do, I saw you strugle with something under the water"
"I know you believe me, but you did,nt see what I saw"
"So tell me"
"When I was under the water I saw, eyes looking right at me"
"Eyes?"
"Yes eyes, big glowing eyes looking right at me, I was so afraid" Louise started to cry again
"Oh, hun don't cry we don't have to go near the lake again"
"That would be great"
"Lets go back"
"Just one more moment"
"Why? Whats wrong?" I asked worried
"It's this place thats wrong, I don't like it here"
"Why?"
"Just listen"
"I don't hear anything"
"Exatly, no more birds, no animals, it is so odd, it gives me the creeps"
"Yeah it is odd"
Suddenly there was a sharp russeling of leaves and a branch snapped, makeing myself and Louise jump.
"Is anyone there?" I asked, a little scaired, no reply more leaves russled and another branch snapped, it was really close by.
"Ok. Boys jokes over come on out'
"Yeah, come on out" Louise added.
No reply, this was so creepy, a branch snapped right behind us.
We jumped and both turned around, and right there in the darkness were two big glowing eyes, coming towards us, we ran franticly in the direction of the camp, I could hear something running behind us, what ever it was, it wanted to get us, we ran faster, in the distance I could see the camp fire, I turned my head and saw the eyes still behind us.
"Come on!" I yelled at Louise
We ran on, untill finaly we reached the camp, we slowed panting for breath, James and Dan ran over to us.
"What happend?" James asked
"We were both chased by something" I panted.
"Nothing else came out" Dan said
"Where did it go?" I asked
"The fire might of frightened it" Louise sounded hopeful
"Yes maybe"
"What was it you saw?" Dan asked
"I am not sure"
"Well what ever it was has gone now" Max said, joining us
"For now" Louise replied
"What do you mean?' Dan asked
"It wants us can't you feel it, I think we should leave"Louise said
"No way, I planned this for a long time" James said
"I know, you have, but Louise is right what if what ever that was does come back?" I asked
"It probably won't, now lets get some rest" James said
"Good idea" Louise added
We all went into our tents, I was sharring with Lou and James with Dan, I laid awake for ages all I could see in my mind where those eyes glowing, looking right at me, right into my soul, but slowly my eyes grew heavy and I driffted off into an uneasy sleep.
