"What is it?" I asked in a trembling voice.
"Something has been this way" Hawk replied
"What?"
"A powerful vampire not long created, somehow one of them survived and escaped"
"Then we will stop it" I said, holding his hand and looking in his eyes.
"I will stop it" Hawks voice was full of anger
"I want to help"
"No, Katie"
"I won't let you do this alone, Hawk you mean everything to mean everything to me"
"I know, but this vampire I think could of been one of your friends"
"What?"
"It is a male sent, there were two in your group, one is gone"
"Max" I gasped
"We should leave"
I just nodded the news had not really sunk in, we slowly travelled back through the long maze of tunnels until finaly we were back at the main cave entrance, it felt good to be in the fresh air again, we walked a little way to the meadow then my tears fell.
"Katie?" Hawk questioned
"We have to kill him don't we?" I asked
"Yes, we must"
"Poor Max" I sobbed, Hawk wrapped his arms around me and held me, he kissed my tears away, kissed my cheek and lips, I kissed him back never wanting to let him go, now here in the meadow we could be togther we let our selves become one.
We lay in the long grass togther it tickled my feet, Hawk had his arms wrapped around me it was warm and comforting. I looked at him and smiled I loved him so much my life was complete with him, I snuggeld closer.
"Katie, can I ask you somthing?" Hawk asked
"Yes of course" I replied
"Will you be with me?"
"I am with you" I said, holding his hand tight
"Yes, but will be with me forever as my wife?" Hawk asked
"What?"
"Katie, I am asking if you will marry me?"
I could not answer for a minuet, I was in shock, marry him?
"Yes" I managed to wisper
"We are going to be very happy togther" Hawk said, pulling me even closer to him, he kissed my forehead and lips.
"I forgot to give you your ring" Hawk said, pulling away, he went over to his pack, he had a ring in there?
He was back in a second in his hand was a small black box, he placed it in the palm of my hand, trembling I slowly opended it, inside was a gold ring set with a cluster of diamonds it was beautiful.
"May I?" Hawk asked
I nodded he took the ring from the box and gently placed it on my third finger of my left hand where it glinted like a star, I had no words instead I smiled and kissed him, he held me in his arms, he understood me like no one else could or would we were one now and forever. We sat and watched the stars sparke in the night sky, I sighed as I realised time was ticking away we had to find Max begore sunrise.
"How did Max survive?" I asked
"A cheif can pass on his power to any vampire he wants, it is possible that Max was his choice" Hawk explained
"So is he a chief like you?"
"No not like me, I have much more power than he does, I must be the one to destroy him"
"First we find him"
"Yes, we should move"
"Yes"
We both slowly got dressed and headed away from the meadow down back towards the lake if Max had escaped through the pond that was where he would of ended up.
As we neared the lake I suddenly felt dizzy and slugish, I slowed my pace, my vision blurred, I felt sick.
"Hawk, I feel sick" I said, stopping dead.
"Sick?" Hawk asked
"I feel dizzy, I can't see straight"
"I had a feeling this would happen"
"What?" I asked
"Katie, your thirsty"
The word hit me thirsty, I would have to drink blood, I had not realised I was a vampire, I had not had any blood, I sank to the ground.
"I can't" I moaned
"It's all right you don't havr to kill anything, here" Hawk said, in a soothing tone in his hand was a small metalic flask, he held it out to me.
"This bood, it it human?" I asked
"Yes, it is best for a new born lile you, it will give you more stamina"
"I can't"
"I am sorry, Katie, so very sorry. If you want to survive you must. I dont hunt human blood and you won't either but the first time is always human" Hawk explained
Trembling I reached out and took the flask from his hand, I took a sniff. It smelt good, like nothing I had ever smelt before, I brought the flask to my lips, took a deep breath and the slowly drank from the flask.
I could feel the blood work it's way through me, it was hot and almost sweet, to my surprise it was good, I drained the whole flask, I began to feel better the dizziness had gone.
"Feel better?" Hawk asked
"Yes much better, do you ever get used to it?"
"In time"
"I think, I am alright now"
Hawk smiled and we continued our jouney. We arrived at the lake it smelt different rancid, like something not quite dead had been here, Hawk slowly let go of my hand went over to the lake shore, and then started to go in.
"What are you doing?" I asked
"I must colapse the cave entrance" Hawk replied
"Don't leave me"
"I have to, your not strong enough yet to come with me" Hawk said, looking at me with a sad expession on his face, he did'nt want to leave me, but he had no choice.
"Be careful, please" I said
"I will"
Hawk then dissapeard under the waves the ripples travelling on and on, I sat on the beach to wait. I streached waiting for a sign of his return.
"Katie"
A voice, one I thought, I knew, reached my ears I turned to see where I thought it came from and even with my extra vision I did not see anything. I got up abd wanderd ever so slightly away from the lake still nothing.
I returned to the beach where was Hawk, he should of been back by now, I started ti get worried.
