Courtney's POV

A lot of time has passed. The tour has finished and we've been at home for a while now. It's nice to be back in my own bed; as much as anything can belong to me at least.

I'm still working at the animal shelter and the band is still going strong, nothing's really changed, but it feels like something is wrong.

I don't know what it is, but I've just started to feel really down recently. When I'm around the others I put on a fake smile and act all happy and cheerful, but as soon as I'm alone I'm all depressed again. I'm just going to keep it hidden until I know what's causing this, and then I can fix it.

"Knock knock," Ross said tapping on my door while slowly opening it.

"Hey," I said putting down my book and sitting up.

Suddenly he plopped down on my lap.

"Ross! Get off!" I said trying to push him off.

"I want a pony, and a bouncy castle, and a video game," Ross listed.

We both started laughing as he got off. I slid over and he sat down next to me on my window seat. He kissed my head while I leant against him. He hummed softly and I could feel his chest vibrating underneath me.

"This is nice," I said.

He brought his arm around and linked our hands together. Slowly, he rubbed soft circles on my leg with his other hand. I felt tears coming up. I wanted to tell Ross what was going on with me so bad, but I couldn't. I started playing with my ring to distract myself.

"What's wrong baby?" Ross asked me.

"Nothing," I replied.

He stopped rubbing circles on my leg.

"Court, don't lie to me. I know something's wrong. You play with your ring when something's bothering you."

"It's nothing, really," I insisted.

I sat up and leant against the wall instead of him. We just sat there silently.

"Courtney. Please talk to me. I don't like seeing you like this."

"Like what?"

"Sad. You might not admit it, but I can tell that something is wrong. You've been distancing yourself from us, from me. Is it something I did?"

"No. It's not anything Ross. I told you already, I'm fine."

"No you're not, I know that you're not. Courtney, I want to help you."
