Ross' POV
"Hey Ross, where were you?" Riker asks as I walk in the door.
It was still raining outside and I had gotten a bit wet.
"I took the girl from last night home. Her name is Courtney." I replied.
Rydel walked in from the kitchen as I was talking and gave me a strange look.
"Oooooo! Rossy has a crush!" she exclaimed.
"No I don't!" I defended myself.
Rydel just ran away smirking. I went to the couch and sat down. I sat up when I felt something hard. I reached in between the cushions and pulled out a phone. It was probably Courtney's. I turned it on and unlocked it since it didn't have a pass code. It suddenly started ringing. I answered it.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Who is this?" the voice on the other end asked.
"This is Ross. Is this Courtney?" I replied.
"Yes this is Courtney. Who exactly are you?" she questioned.
"Oh, I'm the guy that took you home last night. I found your phone in the couch just barely. Do you want me to bring it to you or do you want to come pick it up?"
"Um, well there's a Starbucks not to far from your house if I remember correctly. You wanna meet there?" she sounded a bit nervous or maybe scared.
"Sure! See you there in a bit?"
"Ya. Sure." She hung up the phone.
Before I left I put my number in her phone and put her number in my phone.
I went to Starbucks, ordered something for myself and sat down waiting for Court.
Courtney's POV
While walking to Starbucks I kept on looking back. I was way to scared that James was going to be following me. He was just the kind of guy that would do that too. Dating him was by far the worst idea I have ever made. If he doesn't get what he wants, there are consequences.
I walked into Starbucks and ordered myself something. I looked around and saw that Ross guy sitting at a table. I walked over with my drink in hand.
"Hey, um, can I please have my phone?" I asked Ross.
"Why don't you sit for a bit?" he asked.
I sat down across from him and started sipping my drink. I didn't make eye contact with him.
"So, Court. Um, what exactly was happening?" Ross asked.
That was the dreaded question that I knew was going to be asked eventually. I decided that I would just tell him. I mean, what are the chances that I'll ever see Ross again?
"Well, that was my ex-boyfriend, James. I broke up with him last month cause he was starting to hurt me. He said that I would regret ever making that decision. He had said that he was going to kill me, but then you came. So, I guess in a way you saved my life." I shrugged my shoulders at the end.
On the inside I wanted to cry my head off and just hold somebody tight. On the outside I was remaining as calm as possible.
Ross gave me a bit of a smile as he placed my phone on the table. I just took the phone and ran off as he was about to say something. As I was running, tears were streaming down my face. I couldn't keep them hidden anymore.
I heard Ross run out after me and call my name, but I didn't respond. I ran all the way to my house.
Ross' POV
I put Court's phone on the table giving her a small smile. She grabbed it and ran out. I started chasing her and called her name. I heard her let out a sob and decided to let her go. I need to talk to her. I just hope I get to her before James does.
I drove home went straight to my room. I pulled out my phone and looked through my contacts. One question was running through my mind. Do I text Court, or do I wait?
I decided to wait and see if she would cool off a bit. I could tell that she really needed a friend right about now. An idea popped inside my head.
"RYDEL!" I yelled through the house.
"What?" she asked walking in my room.
"Could you please do me a favor?" I asked with puppy dog eyes.
"What kind of favor?"
I explained to her what had happened at Starbucks and that I thought that Court needed a friend. Since they hadn't met yet I thought that it would be perfect.
"Ok, I will help you, but you owe me." she and an evil grin on her face.
She walked out of my room.
"Oh, and by the way, it is sooo obvious you have a crush on her!" she said sticking her head back in and then quickly leaving before I could object.
I just sighed and laid down on my bed.
*The Next Afternoon*
Rydel's POV
"Ok, before we get there, here's a quick recap. You go up to her house after I drop you off a block away. You knock on the door and" I cut him off there.
"I know what to do! We've gone over this like 20 times already!"
He just huffed and focused on the road again. He started slowing down at a gas station.
"Ok. You just turn right at that corner and it's number 153 on the left side. Good luck!" Ross said as I climbed out of the car.
"Here goes nothing!" I said to myself as I walked up to the door.
