what if
annabeth drowns while on a quest
and percy, the son of poseidon becomes afraid of water itself
whenever he even glances at water, the image of annabeth helplessly struggling in the water crosses his mind
after the incident, percy is always brooding
whenever he passes other campers, they'll start to whisper about him
and percy lashes out on them, taking out his sword and dares them to fight him
then, one day jason pulls him aside
and he tells percy that he needs to control himself and calm down because literally everyone is scared of percy
and right after that, percy breaks down and rests his head on jason's shoulder while he sobs out how much he misses annabeth
jason wraps his arms around percy's body and just hugs him so tightly as if that would help keep percy's heart together.
