Chapter Fifteen
Burning lips. Dry tongues. Distractions. The road has come to an end, but no one knows it. Soon they fly. Dirt and trees... The kiss has broken. They sore over nothing but dirt and trees. Flying cars. Wide eyes. Crash and burn. Bits of fire sparkle in the air. Dirt and trees. Blood and skin. Blurred vision and dirty hair. To the right... Alice.
"Amber, baby."
Her face is simple. Her lips in a straight line.
"Come on."
"Dirt and trees..."
Alice blinks and smiles. She stays quiet. She-
"Amber!"
Amber inhaled loudly, sitting up as she was woken. She rubbed her damp eyes, panting for air. After a moment, she peeked through her fingers, sighing in relief as she found herself in her bedroom...with a confused Luna hovering over her.
"Baby, are you okay?" She asked with furrowed eyebrows and a concerned expression.
Amber swallowed and nodded. "I had a bad dream."
She had dreamed of the car crash with Hailey which seemed so damn long ago. What made her dream of that?
"Well I'd say." Luna sat on the bed. "What was it about?"
Amber was ready to tell her, but of course, Luna disliked Hailey. She might get jealous and upset that Amber was dreaming of Hailey and not her.
"I can't remember," she lied softly.
Luna frowned. "Shame. You were shaking and whimpering and crying. I had to wake you."
Amber felt still half asleep. Her dream confused the hell out of her. Where had it come from?
"I have to go to work, but I'm not so sure it's a good idea to leave you here alone..." Luna admitted, quirking an eyebrow.
Amber shook her head. "It's okay. Go on."
Luna studied her for a long moment, clearly unsure whether or not to trust her. Amber stayed silent, trying to work herself out of the daze she was in. That dream had worked her up, and she still was unsure she was even back into reality.
"Okay..." Luna mumbled, making it known she was not completely convinced. She stood and gave Amber a swift kiss before strutting to the exit of the room, glancing at her warily.
Amber crawled out of bed and made her way to their bathroom. She turned on the sink and splashed cool water on her face. She looked up to stare at her wet face in the mirror.
What the hell had happened? That car crash was ages ago- why was she worrying about it now?
Realization hit Amber like a bolt of lightning.
Alice appeared at the end of her dream. She could have caused her to have a nightmare of the crash. Or...even worse...
Amber gasped. She made the crash.
No. There was no way she was capable of doing such a thing. Plus, what did her aunt have against Hailey? Hailey was no threat to Alice's and Luna's 'relationship.' In fact, Hailey could cause a storm in Amber's and Luna's, which would be good for Alice.
Amber splashed her face again. Too many names and stories.
Alice wanted Amber dead. If Amber knew anything, that was it. The thing was, it had been days since Alice had caused any problems for her and Luna. Things had been quiet lately and oddly peaceful.
