Chapter Thirty-Six
Amber slid into an elegant green dress. Luna had picked it out for her and Amber knew it must have cost a fortune.
It was worth it, though. She felt beautiful in it as she slipped on the matching heels. The heels weren't nearly as high as Luna's.
Amber glanced in the mirror one last time before walking out of the room. She felt nervous for tonight. She wouldn't if it weren't for Eva talking about some big news Luna had to announce.
She walked alone down the stairs, careful to not fall. She hardly ever wore heels. As she made her way outside, she hoped Hailey wasn't upset about her bailing. She felt guilty but Luna was her girlfriend and tonight was apparently important.
Luna had told her exactly where to meet her for dinner. They were eating outside, but the backyard was so large, Luna had to give specific instructions on where to go.
She stepped outside, thankful that the weather was so nice. She had worried it may be too hot. It was the en of August and it wasn't too hot out.
She walked past the angelic fountain and over the bridge that went over the small river. She passed the gravel table and walked under the large peach tree, just as Luna had instructed. Amber surprised herself by remembering it all.
After turning a corner, she stopped short. It was as if she had entered a completely different place. Willow trees stood tall with their branches hanging low. Patches of small ponds had been dug into the grass and white flowers floated on the water, seeming to glow. Soft music played nearby and after glancing to her right, she noticed a man playing a guitar.
Another man suddenly approached her, startling her. He was dressed as a butler and smiled at her.
"This way," he motioned forward with his hand.
Amber followed him, noticing with surprise how the small white flowers seemed to glow. A tiny flame sat in the middle of each of them, magically not turning them into ashes. Amber knew that was Luna's work.
The man led her straight to the largest willow tree and lifted a part of the light branches, exposing a whole new area inside the tree.
Amber gasped with shock, feeling wonder spread through her veins. This night was clearly very important.
Amber tentatively stepped under the branches.
Flower petals covered the ground and a table sat in the middle of the paved area.
Luna appeared beside her, instantly taking her hand.
"Baby... You did all this for me?"
She grinned happily. "Yes, of course."
Luna led Amber to the table, her navy dress dragging behind her. Her hair was tied up in a gorgeous bun, loose strands of dark hair framing her face.
Luna pulled one of the chairs out for Amber, who sat down.
Luna kindly pushed her in and then say across from her.
"I... I don't know what to say, Luna. This is so romantic and amazing."
Luna giggled cutely. "Say you're hungry."
"I am!"
She smiled and picked up a small metal bell from the table, ringing it.
A man rushed over to them with plates of food, setting the food on the table before disappearing again.
Because of the large willow tree they were covered under, the place was dim.
Amber and Luna began to eat and talk over the delicious food. They spoke casually but Amber was a little tense. When would Luna break the news?
"The food is delicious," Amber said with a grin.
"I think it is, too. If it wasn't, I'd have the chef executed."
Amber froze.
Luna laughed loudly. "I'm kidding!"
Amber let out a sigh of relief. "Oh, good."
Next came a dish of deserts and Amber had a slice of cheesecake while Luna had a slice of lava cake.
After taking the last bite, Luna leaned over and wiped a stray smudge of cake off Amber's lips.
The butler returned to their table again, holding an envelope. "Delivery for Miss Amber," he announced, handing her the envelope.
Amber was confused but she took the envelope, glancing at Luna, whose eyebrows were raised and whose lips held a small smile.
She ripped open the envelope and pulled out a... ring?
Luna was suddenly on her knees, kneeling next to Amber's chair.
Amber knew what was coming and she struggled to breathe as she stared down at her girlfriend.
Luna's expression was serious but gentle. "Amber, I love you so much and want to spend the rest of my life with you," Luna began, taking Amber's hand, which was shaking. "You make me see the good in things and I know we haven't been together for too long and I know I have a child now and I know royalty is involved, but I want you to be mine forever."
Luna gently took the ring from Amber's hand. "Be my princess," she whispered, kissing Amber's ring finger, her eyes locked on Amber's. "Will you marry me?"************************
This chapter is super short but I just wanted it to be about the marriage ;3
